Yeah, its crazy how the death rates and age change like that though. Is Italy’s health care system bad? Cant imagine its much worse than the healthcare for profit that goes on here, but why so much higher percentage.
Is it because a lot of those older people in Italy smoke? Lack of ventilators?
We have 1100 positive cases so far and 1 fatality (and she was 70 with underlying health issues). We are into our second week of lockdown Hopefully we can knock this bastard of a virus on the head

I’m no expert but from what I understand Italy does have an older aged population than the mean of all countries, and a higher percentage of smokers. I don’t think their health care system is awful but it’s not anywhere at our level. They are def better than average in Europe (probably due to their aging population) but cream of the crop in Europe is Germany. Our biggest issue with our healthcare system is regulation. There are cures or treatments out there for Some diseases that aren’t done here in USA due to red tape. Cancer treatment here is a 1 prong attack where Germany has many state of the art cancer treatments and they attack it 3 different ways
Also, correct me if I'm wrong because I remember reading something about it but I'm not 100% sure. Didn't Italy welcome in a bunch of people fleeing Wuhan really early before we knew shit about corona?
Does the graph intentionally have similar numbers enough though the Italy number is literally 100k more? We know italy has an older population so I'm not really sure what point that graph is actually serving.
I've seen enough graphs to know that you don't accidentally leave confusing shit like that in there. Nine out of ten people will look at that and think immediately that it is comparing similar numbers across all three.
You know people fall for shit like this all the time. I wasnt saying "by golly, good thing I looked at it closely" but yeah this is a garbage chart no one needs to care about.

Oh my bad... I thought extra info wasn’t needed about that graph. The graph is just showing fatality rates per age of people at decade resolution in three different locations. It’s not really telling you anything between the three different locations other than they all have similar fatality trends. There’s nothing new in that graph that we already don’t know (ie... older people are more affected). I just liked the graph so I posted

I guess you could say the graph might be concluding that Louisiana is similar to South Korea.... however I wouldn’t go there yet as Louisiana is still at the start of the pandemic and South Korea more at the end

Pretty sure I'm on your side on this one. Most people dont do that. Graphs get flashed on tv and its OOO COLORS AND LINES. BAD LINES.
