Finished the Rebel Force series yesterday. Pretty decent, though like all stuff set between ANH and Empire, its pretty inconsequential.
It essentially acts as a conclusion to Jedi Apprentice/Jedi Quest/The Last Of The Jedi - finishing up Ferus Olin's and Lune Divinian's stories, as well as connecting elements of the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy.
I especially liked the brief looks at Alderaan life before it was blown up. Ferus vs Vader was cool too.
Wasn't amazing, Leia and Han's bickering gets SUPER annoying. But overall enjoyable.
Also doesnt contradict Rebel Strike like I originally thought.
Finished Ruins Of Dantooine today. Pretty good novel. It follows a biologist named Dusque. I liked that it focused on new characters. Luke, Han, Leia, Vader, ect were in it, but only in a couple pages and took background roles for the new characters to shine. My only complaint was that it ends so abruptly. I thought I still had half a book to go. Not sure if there was a sequel planned, or if the story was finished in Star Wars Galaxies as I never had the chance to play it, but I wanted more.
Finished the Dune audiobook. It sucked. The audiobook, not the story. It’s half narrated by one dude like a normal audiobook and then half voice-acted out by the cast of the movie. It’s a lot harder to keep track of who is who. Worst audio experience of a book that I have had. Story wise, there is all the shit you kinda know already (Sand! Spice! Worms!) and then a bunch of political shit and so many made up words that it’s all just kinda confusing. Addition materials definitely help explain a lot of the back story shit. Definitely some cool world building lore and YouTube videos explaining it all. Also cool seeing the influence the story had on other works. I can see how it was groundbreaking in its time but I just mostly feel late to the party. All the groundbreaking stuff it contained I’ve already seen elsewhere, and maybe even better, so by the time I got to the real thing it didn’t hit the same. Had a similar experience when I watched the first Matrix movie with my kid. First time we saw the Trinity kick, or Neo dodge bullets in the theater, it was amazing. By the time he watched it though, he had seen those same moves in 20 different formats already.
Finished Razor's Edge - it was just ok. Kind of juvenile writing, but it wasn't terrible. Leia focused story.
Also finished Rebel Heist - I didnt like this one. Just a nothing story that doesnt add anything, goes nowhere, and was really forgetable. Shame this was the last comic Dark Horse published before the Disney canon fully went into affect.
Started Honor Among Theives - Almost done with it, I REALLY like it. Han Solo at his best. A lot of fun. Witty dialogue. Written by the author of Leviathan's Wake. I really like Scarlet Hark and wish we had more stories with her. A spy/espionage story with her and Winter would have been awesome. Or even another heist story with Bink and Tavia.
Finished Splinter Of The Minds Eye... it was... ok? Some really out of character moments, and also doesn't fit in with the continuity very well. Though I don't think it was fully considered "canon" as it was released before Empire Strikes Back was even in development.
I'm reading the graphic novel version now, as I heard they changed elements of it to actually fit in the "canon", so I'm curious to see if that's true.
After my grandma's memorial, we went through her things. I recieved her Star Wars VHS tapes. I first watched Star Wars as a kid at her house. These tapes are what started it all for me.
Also had a cool ad for EU stuff inside. Kind of a blast from the past.
I finished Darth Bane: Path of Destruction the other day. LOVED it. Darth Bane has become one of my favorite Star Wars characters. So I started the Jedi Vs Sith comics (basically tells the story of the end of Path Of Destruction), and Rule Of Two. Might give The Last Of The Jedi YA series a quick read too.

Such a toxic community
At least I can watch the movie now.

I just hope they cut back on the back tracking aspects. Doesn't really fit well with a Souls-like imo.
