Speaking of tattoos that people are gonna regret, a "friend" of mine just got the Linkin Park logo tattooed on his bicep. He's really defensive about it so I can't wait until he's over his LP phase and hates himself for getting such an awful tattoo.
Can anyone tell me about the hygiene/sterilization process about tattoos? I'm going to ask them obviously and I've researched but I want to know from a personal standpoint
When do you start putting on the lotions etc.? And what do they do in the process of getting the tattoo to keep it from getting infected? I've heard they're wearing gloves, constantly cleaning it, etc.

when you get a tattoo, they steralize everything they can.
when the tattoo is done, they normally put either a A and D cream on it and then wrap it.
after a hour or so youre supposed to take the wrap off and wash it with anti-bacterial/anti-microbial soaps, very gently
let it air dry and use a and d lotion for a couple days, i use Aquaphor for this
then after 2 or 3 days is when i start to use the lotion, dont use enough to soak it, just enough to gently rub in...so in this case a little bit goes more than a long way.
and i do that for 2-2.5 weeks and it is healed.
With tattoos if you dont want it to get infected, just take care of it...unlike a piercing, tattoos arent really easily infected. haha
Basically what Nick said. Although after mine was done I used Bag Balm most of the time and it never got infected and still looks really good (got it done August of 2007)

i have it on my arm <_> lol
erin has it too i believe...
If it has meaning behind it, and you like it...then fucking get it.
When youre old and wrinkly and look down at the tattoo[s] you will remember the meaning of it.
If you have any thought of a possibility of regretting said tattoo....then dont get it.

What i do is i use unscented Lubriderm for it.
if it itches youre not supposed to scratch/rub it...but you can lightly slap the tattoo...and i mean LIGHTLY lol
dont soak it in water.
use non scented anti bacterial soap...or organic shit....lol
if you take good care of your tattoo it will look good for several years to come.
