I realise it sounds petty and sulky but I've been busting my ass for this company for 20 years and apart for the way I'm paid I am effectively an employee....obviously they don't see me the same way so that's cool ... as long as I know where I stand that's fine
You guys don’t know this, but I can be a stubborn ass sometimes. Anytime I’ve ever been presented with the choice of “do this or else”, I will choose “or else” almost 100% of the time.
My boss is a micro managing dick head too. So everytime he starts yelling about something that doesn't matter I pull a Stone Cold and just start screaming "WHAT?" over him until he gets frustrated and goes away. We used to butt heads and argue all the time until I started doing that. He literally has no defense or retort for it and winds up getting mad and going away lol best part is my.coworkers think it's hilarious so hard of them do it too

totally get your stance though. They can't have it both ways.
i have a draw, but im technically a completely commissioned employee. Thats why it irks me that my boss wants to have say about how i go out and sell.
If i need you, ill contact you. Otherwise stay the fuck out of my way while i become the highest selling agent here.

Why have you been a contractor for 20 years? Is it more beneficial to you or was that a restriction imposed by the company?
Def more beneficial for me. I don't get sick leave or annual leave (or recognized obviously for my results) but income-wise I am paid a hell of a lot more than I would as a salaried employee
Email from the Stupidvisor said HR meeting is now set for Tuesday morning.
Cool, cool.
Just spent 2 hours throwing up a email of my own, basically says “hey, is who I’m am, these are my credentials and what I’ve done for the company, and this is how things are” email to his boss at corporate.
It got auto flagged 😂
I had to clean it up a bit and resend it.
Guess we can’t say “shit” in an email, or at least not to corporate.
I “solved” a water leak issue today. The digester had water running out the side of it. Probably 5,000 gallons a day. All summer. They couldn’t figure it out. There is all of one water lines running to where it was leaking.
Today was my first day being the front desk secretary.
Surprise surprise, because I'm the most tenured banker there I had like 8 people today come in and want to talk to me about loans so I had to step away to my desk to do my fucking job. I could tell my manager was getting frustrated that I wasn't at the front desk but there was nothing she could really say because people were specifically asking for me.
I came in Monday to no response to the email nuke I sent out. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
I walked up to HR by myself right before the meeting and the new supervisor (his name is Jake so you just know he’s a dick) hoping he would go to our plant to look for me to walk up with him like last time, which would have made him late. But the HR guy wasn’t in yet (little HR from here on out) but the fucking head of HR was (Big HR) and he had me go into his office to talk about the email I sent to Damon.
(So the chain of command so far is Me<Jake<Cory<Damon)
Damon kicked the email up to his boss, who kicked it to Big HR, who kicked it up to the boss of Big Hr, who kicked it up to another guy, either the plant manager, GM, or Plant Superintendent IDK. One of those dudes. The fucking big boss. About 6 manager levels past where I fucking rank. If I would have know it was going to go that fucking high I would have changed a few things around to be more “corporate”
But he just went through a lot of the points I made, kept writing down the points I was making, asked how much I made, and said they didn’t know about any of it and thanks for bringing it to their attention. They said it was the right thing to do, and I hammered home how everyone feel’s disrespected by management who didn’t give us credit for the extra work we do and the way the treat us. Everything went way, way better than expected with Big HR. Big HR even confirmed annual raises are still coming, they just got switched to December (union contracts something or other) Neither Cory or Jake would ask about it despite repeated requests from most of the department. Then it was time to go into the next office with Jake and Little HR. Big HR came with.
I fucking shredded Jake. It did not go well for him at fucking all.
Little HR starts off “Do you know why Jake brought you up here” ”Jake didn’t bring me up here. He presented the option to come up and I chose to bring HIM up here.”
It would take way to long to recap everything but he pretty much fell into every trap I set for him. At one point he stumbled so bad that Big HR had me go back to his office and Jake got a 10-15 minute talking to. Then they had me come back in. Flawless round for me so far. Jake tried to land a point by trying to get hr to confirm that he can give us orders and expect them to be obeyed. HR mostly shut that down as well. He was really dismissive and disrespectful of a lot of the things I was saying, which I also pointed out. A lot of the thing I complained to Big HR prior to the full meeting Jake made obvious during the meeting. Told Big HR that new management didn’t appreciate the shit we did to improve our department because to them it’s always been that way. They didn’t see the decade of hard work that went into getting the plant appearance to where it was. Jake faceplanted into that one during the meeting. There were several times Jake would say something and I would just look over at Big HR and quietly murder “see, I told ya”
Jake stayed up in HR long after I left.
From an HR standpoint, I have to do my training on they day I said I would (a scheduled Saturday so I get paid time and a half for it) not when Jake said it was due. I also have to try to be nicer to Jake and improve our professional relationship.
@Jobe_Wan_Kenobi great work! Did it feel like you were throwing jabs at the little fella and getting him right on the nose and point scoring every time ? #winning
It felt like a fist fight with a fifth grader. He wasn’t ready. I felt a little bad, but he asked for it. It was his idea to go up there with me. I left the meeting all fired up like my team won the championship game afterwards though. Pretty sure Jake did not, although I haven’t talked to anyone else who shares a shift with him yet.
It’s kinda scary how much the email escalated though. It seemed very well received, and hopefully I get a fat wage increase along with the other couple of guys I went to bat for, but everyone is so fucking terrified of corporate. Maybe they know something I don’t. Or maybe they are just pussies lol. So far so good though. I definitely feels less burdened by all the bullshit and drama now too, so that helps.

They check it.
All fucking summer.
Real men of Genius.
