I’m in the process now of the most change of I’ve ever implemented into my life. I’m watching what I eat, consistently working out, started doing yoga and I’m drinking way less. None of it is easy and there are days where I fall off because life has to do life shit or my mental health takes a nosedive. The important thing is to keep pushing. People are noticing, whether they saw me a week ago or a month ago. It’s always a weird look, followed by a short silence and then a “Not to sound weird but you just kinda seem different, like you’re better in a way I can’t describe.” And I’m not doing this for anyone else but I feel that and to hear it is a good feeling even when I’m not personally feeling it. Change is rough but I’ve tried the depressed alcoholic thing for the last like twelve years. I’m digging this new route. Change it up dude. Watching videos like that all day isn’t catharsis, it’s toxicity.
Maintaining a healthy diet and workout regime is hard.   Living with weight and alcohol issues is also hard. You gotta pick your struggle. Glad you’re choosing the healthier one.

I didnt think I wanted a lot. A real career doing something I liked, and a band that people were interested in/had regular growth was it. I've changed that to: find a job that pays me a little more so I can breathe a bit. And even that is too much.

Change, growth and progress all take time. You have to break things down into manageable steps towards your goals. What did you do about it today? What step did you take?

I get it but I already work out regularly. I never had a problem with drugs or alcohol and just drink casually for fun. I already watch what I eat. It doesnt help because my life is still stagnant. I've failed to achieve any of my dreams. Im directionless, with nothing left to work towards. I have no dream job or ambition anymore. I dont even know what I want out of life at this point other than "success". But there's just nothing.
Im not talented, Im not smart, I dont have connections, I dont have experience, I dont have the credentials. I'm wholely incompetent and unqualified for anything greater. The last year has really made me realize I'm a lot less capable than I thought I was. I started the year thinking I could take on the world, get a new start, get any job I ever wanted, maybe have real hobbies and free time again. And now I realized that was the furthest thing from the truth.

It's not a woahweesme pity party, it’s just me finally being realistic with myself.

I have been in the past. Recently came off of lexapro earlier this year.

Well I guess that was for anxiety, but doc said it treats depression too.

Some days I miss it, some i don't. I don't feel like I had the same highs, but I also got.over my lows faster.

I think there can definitely be some benefit, but I never want to go.through the fatigue of ststting it again, or comming of of it.

I haven’t taken any since 2008. Looking back, they were a nightmare. I don’t think it’s the drugs *necessarily* but how they’re administered. Doctors seem to feel the need to tinker with your scripts and it can cause some really difficult results. I started all the way back in 1992 . I don’t like to place blame on things other than my own decisions, but I could make a solid argument that the drugs they had me on and the way they kept changing my treatments ruined my high school years and led to me dropping out. I started when I was a 7th grader with straight A’s. I have an award signed by George Bush because I never got anything below an A throughout elementary school. But then I never passed a class in 8th grade or all of high school. My doctors and parents never seemed to connect that to my treatments. Once I made the choice to stop taking them because of some really awful side effects, I started getting my shit together and being able to hold jobs. I still have problems that occasionally get serious, but I’m not on the rollercoaster I was on for those 15 years

I will say I know people the SSRIs have done wonders for. So I won’t tell people not to give them a chance. I just think you should temper expectations, be careful with them, and be as honest as possible with doctors to let them know what they’re doing to/for you

Yeah I'm with most of what Satan said.

I've definitely seen benefits. I also think with the right doctor and an honest patient you can find what your looking for.

I'll start with the old remedy stuff.

You should be taking the following every day. Not only will you feel physically better, but your mind will be better too.

Vitamin D - almost every one is deficit. Take it every day for a.month and you will seriously notice the difference.

Fish oil - really anything with omega fatty acids, but this is a huge one when it comes to your mental health.

Magnesium- try to find a type that gets absorbed well into your body. Don't just buy the cheapest version of this because it won't be effective. Do some research on the different types and how they can help you.

Ashwaganda - idk much about this one but I take it daily and it definitely helps.

I'd say those 4 are the big ones. I also take vitamin C and zinc daily but that's for virus stuff.

Stick to a plan and take those every single day and you will start to feel better.
