Didnt you say that they should focus on creating new minority characters instead of changing the old ones :-?
I'm not complaining about the new story. Just pointing out that that IS their goal right now.
Actually they did something right today in announcing Riri is going to be known as Ironheart. So now we have a new black chick character, who at the moment is basically Ironman, but with an opening that leaves availability for someone to write her, her own identity, and bring Stark back somewhere down the line where they can both coexist. (Whereas with Thor, fem-Thor wont be able to coexist once Thor actually comes back, for example).
I'll admit this is pretty gay. "Its our era of diversity"
how about an era of good storytelling you fuckheads
Exactly. It comes off as a synthetic cash grab because "diversity" and identity are in right now, instead of actually them writing good stories with characters who happen to be physically diverse.
Also, what is your opinion on what makes things diverse in the first place? Does simply making a slew of genius black women that are more powerful than the heroes they're replacing make the universe more diverse? (Not saying that is what it is right now, though I can see that being an end goal for certain people).
Because I'd like to think it is more nuanced than that. I mean Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America, while all white, are three VERY different characters in terms of background, origin, personality, and story. Does that mean they aren't a diverse cast because the three of them are white men?
So Suicide Squad was very meh. Very obvious they wanted it to be their Guardians or Deadpool
Amanda Waller was perfect. I liked Deadshot and Katana. I HATED Joker and Harley Everyone else had their moments but for the most part were just there.
Story was meh. Fight scenes were good.
Soundtrack choice and soundtrack editing was horrible.
Watching through Killing Joke. The intro was ass. Mediocre, and unneeded addition, and Batgirl and Batman were both depicted very uncharacteristically, especially the Batsex.
