You should just steal MS Word. I can probably send you a copy if you want. I say probably because I am not sure how big it is and I'm not sending GB's though email. but if I could zip it down to like 50 MB I'll send it if you are interested. No virus included!

Thanks for posting your paper. It is very good.
I do take issue with a number of your conclusions and opinions. Your bias shows through. If I was more awake I might try and start up a little debate about "the future of metal" and also the "origins" of folk metal. I'm not an expert of folk metal, however you seemed to present that Skyclad started it out. That before Skyclad there was nothing, but really I don't believe that to be a fair historical perspective. I think it is more accurate to say that Folk metal was a natural extension on extreme metal genres Black and Death and thrash.
it would be more accurate to say that it spawned off of Venom.... Or actually more importantly Bathory should probably get full credit for starting folk metal. Bathory was making Norse mythology music almost a decade before Skyclad.
anyways, my issues with what you wrote probably wont be reflective in a grade. It was well written and organized. You did a good job.
oh... btw. In the first paragraph you said "the Europe". Did you mean that? I fully admit that you are much more talented at word crafting then I am, and I was wondering if that was intentional and if so why you chose that instead of just saying "Europe"
Wake, I definitely didn't mean to put "the Europe". Whoops. As for the Bathory/Skyclad thing....totally didn't know that. Researching this paper was extremely hard, because there are very very few ACADEMIC sources on the topic, so that is what I was trying to reflect. I guess I am sort of biased in my paper because it's a historic class more than a lit class, but that's alright. If you knew the professor, you'd know he would pretty much expect that.

@strat - I wasnt claiming Bathory was folk metal, but that they were probably one of the first to get the ball rolling in that direction especially with their norse mythology inspired albums. And I also think Venom was a big source of inspiration for that genre as well, and everyone would agree Venom was not folk metal.
Someone could make claims that really it was the Led Zeppelin (or some other classic band) that spawned metal and thus spawned folk metal. I feel that is taking it a little too far.... However I do think both Bathory and Venom were two bands that took huge leaps in completely new directions. They were two little fish that were swimming very upstream. I've seen interviews with Chuck Schuldiner where the interviewer was like "dude you started death metal", and he is like "ehhh... I wasnt all that revolutionary. Venom really probably deserves most credit for the extreme metal genres".
and that is all I am saying. Folk metal has generally been patterned after some of the more extreme genres. And probably the two most important of those god-father bands was Venom and Bathory. Bathory is probably more closer leaning towards the folk metal genre, and I think one could very easily conclude that their influence on that genre was great. Not saying they are folk, but that they probably inspired a lot in that direction.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
And Jay, I'm think I'll survive without it...I want another tattoo more anyway.
