Oh and it looks like we'll probably keep Ericsson. Not incredibly thrilled but the free agent defensemen crop is not much better at this point. Eaves and Miller might be gone.
Because they can probably make more money with another team and get more playing time. They would probably be second/third line players on a good amount of teams as opposed to third/fourth line on ours. Eaves is also more valuable because he kills penalties.
What is he gonna coach? I hope this isnt their answer, they better get on signing Leino and Langenbrunner or Madden or someone....
so far this is how I'm looking at it..
Jagr Bryzgalov Simmonds Schenn Vockub Two first round picks a second round pick Two 3rd round picks
for Richards and Carter. When I look at it that way, it makes me feel a little better.
Jager will add 60ish points and really help the struggling PP, but hopefully he can stay healthy a full season, I dont see him getting 20mins a night like he used to. They still have work to do to complete the team and they need another goal scorer. Simon Gagne????? PLEASE?
Pretty happy with what the Wings did yesterday. Resigned Ericsson, Eaves, and Miller and added some grit on the blue line in Commodore. We still have a little less than 10 million to spend, so I'm thinking we'll get a backup goalie, a cheap forward, and if the price is right, a defenseman. Otherwise we can stick to our guns until the trade deadline and get a couple of really, really good players then.
