So, after our Hellfest appearance next Friday, we'll be laying low for a bit. It's for a good reason though: we are currently directing all focus into the crafting of the follow-up to Sorrow and Extinction.
"The Wild Hunt", the new album from Swedish black metallers WATAIN, will be released on August 19 in Europe and August 20 in USA via Century Media Records. The CD was once again mixed at the Necromorbus Studio in Alvik, Sweden by Tore Stjerna.
Executed in oil and mixed materials, the cover of "The Wild Hunt" was created by Zbigniew M Bielak, the very same artist who was responsible for the "Lawless Darkness" artwork. The piece depicts one of the inmost shrines of WATAIN's temple. As on every classic still life, each object has a significant meaning, while each song of the album is also connected to an object.
"The Wild Hunt" track listing:
01. Night Vision 02. De Profundis 03. Black Flames March 04. All That May Bleed 05. The Child Must Die 06. They Rode On 07. Sleepless Evil 08. The Wild Hunt 09. Outlaw 10. Ignem Veni Mittere 11. Holocaust Dawn
The "All That May Bleed" CD will precede the full-length effort at the end of June.
CORMORANT Announce New Bassist/Vocalist; New Album Plans Revealed
Hot Flashes
Posted on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 16:13:43 EST
Bay Area progressive black/death/traditional metal alchemists CORMORANT are preparing to enter Trakworx Studio in South San Francisco to record the follow-up to 2011’s Dwellings.
Recording, mixing and mastering will once again be handled by Justin Weis (AGALLOCH, SLOUGH FEG, HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE) and is scheduled to begin in September. The band's third LP will further explore the black metal and doom influences found on Dwellings and will also mark the first appearance of new bassist/vocalist Marcus Luscombe (VENGINCE, ex-CLOAKWHEEL), who has joined the fold upon the amicable departure of bassist/vocalist Arthur von Nagel. A late 2013/early 2014 release is expected, with more details to follow soon.
Says the band in a collective statement, "We're excited to have Marcus Luscombe join Cormorant for our next album. Marcus is a Bay Area native who has been active in the metal scene since 1999 as lead guitarist, songwriter and backing vocalist for Vengince (Ivory Tower/Cargo Records) and lead singer, lyricist and guitarist for Cloakwheel (Nightmare Records). We're very impressed by his creativity and musicianship, and we look forward to utilizing his talents on the upcoming record and beyond.”
As a thank-you to their longtime fans and introduction to new ones, Cormorant's entire discography (including Dwellings) is currently streaming on their Bandcamp page at this location.

Basically shuts the door on AVN coming back to Cormorant soon, which I believed would happen eventually. It's a shame. He was one of the best metal musicians working for a while.
Either way, I've never heard of Luscombe. Have either of you?
You can download their whole discography for free. Quite a few people on this board would consider them the best current band in the underground metal scene. Check 'em out.

New Nightwish... It's going to be a concept album about Scrooge McDuck.
So right on par pretty much

More on Cormorant at this location.

Seems like a natural fit to me, sound-wise.
Unless he has some tough vocals to couple with what he did with Cloakwheel, it's going to mean a serious sound change for Cormorant.

Listen to them, you may like them, but the hype behind them is hilarious
