that was my ex wife and there’s a difference between ranting about failures in the medical community and being fearful of the actual virus. I have zero fears over the actual virus and never have.
This isn’t a troll. To be perfectly honest I’ve been trying to consider at what death toll I might actually be fearful of the actual virus. Right now the worst case projections for this are 250,000 dead in the USA in 2020. I decided I think the number I’d be “fiuuuck” is about 30 million plus or minus a few million. If 1 in 10 people were going to die from this then I’d start giving a fuck
Nah you're just a hypocrite. You said yourself that testing holds no purpose because there is not a cure. But when your ex wife thinks she had it suddenly its a travesty that she cant get tested. Now that she doesnt have it you went back to it being no big deal. Shut the fuck up already.

Without a cure Testing holds no purpose other then providing data to understand the rate of growth of the infection in society. Without unbiased data it’s impossible to know the true danger of this virus. With under testing (due to supply issues) we moved to a system where “number of cases” started “growing exponentially” which caused a society freak out and caused politicians to make decisions based on no sound statistical base. The number of cases didn’t grow exponentially because the virus is spreading exponentially but because we started testing more! I stand by my earlier comment - testing provides no benefit to the individual being tested because a positive test does not change the medical advice for that person.
I can’t help it if you’re too stupid to understand such an obvious conclusion

what more can I say? Pretty sure I covered it all. I think the most controversial thing I said was I’d start caring around 30million deaths in USA in 2020 from that. I’ll tell you, I feel bad that I don’t have more empathy for those affected at the current rate. But then again I also don’t have empathy for the 650k people that die in the USA each year from cancer. Idk - maybe I’d feel differently if it hit close to home
This is a great example of the "I've got mine, fuck you" attitude that has gotten this country in the position it has.
Plus also I was gonna ask if you had any family that's older or in poor health but I realized they prolly hate you anyway so that'd be a moot point.
It’s funny you mention that... yes I do. I thought I lost my dad last oct and flew out to Seattle to have my final visit with him. Doctors said he needed heart surgery but didn’t think he’d live through it so they put it off to allow him to hopefully get stronger for the surgery. Anyways he has so many underlying issues that if he catches he will 100% die. I’m sure if that happens I’ll be super sad because it’s my dad after all. I’ve accepted that it’s likely I’ll lose him this year and I’ll be sad when it happens. You know though - my dads going to be a big burden to society and it will just be hard to see him get worse and worse. If this virus does him in, it was probably for the best.
Maybe you guys can’t understand how I feel on this. It’s a pretty weird place when your parents are dying. You want more time but you also don’t want to see the really bad times to come
You guys keep up your freak out over a projected 0.1% (rounded way up) death toll. *yawn*
You were the one crying about "community spread" and the lack of testing. Its like you dont even read your own retarded posts.
I care about the data and our politicians (and people in society) making sound decisions on unbiased data. I do not care about community spread and I don’t care about flattening the curve. I absolutely agree that flattening the curve is saving lives by preventing massive overload of medical resources. I don’t know why you put all this extra meaning to my posts that was never implied. Probably because I stopped posting massive walls of words to fully explain my motivations

Kinda. Not completely though. Look I’ll admit this is stupid but here it goes... Humanity is a virus to this planet and our population expansion is out of control. I kinda view virus like this as a form of population control. Covid19 is the lions on the savanna thinning the herds of buffalos. I get it, Death sucks, and if your family is affected by that then I’m sorry your family has to work through that... that said this virus is targeting those that have underlying symptoms, and those that in general are a bigger drain on society than those not affected. This is a gross generalization and I’m sure there are exceptions to this. Anyways idk we got serious issues in society that are far greater than the short term pandemic. Idk maybe I’m a monster for not caring more.
Pretty sure I speak for everyone here when I say we hope you get it.
I’ll live and then have antibodies for it. I am very healthy and have no underlying conditions. Nbd. It would be better for you to wish I die in a car accident or kill myself over money or something.

I'm not implying anything. Two weeks ago you were literally complaining that the community spread was so bad due to lack of testing. Those are your exact words.
Italy is sitting at 115,242 cases, 13,915 deaths, and 18,278 recovered.
Sure that might seem relatively small. Only like a 12% death rate. But comparing that to those recovered you only have a SLIGHTLY better chance of recovering instead of dying. That's ALMOST a 50/50 chance of death. And sure, Italy wasn't prepared, they didn't take it seriously enough, yadda yadda.
The U.S. has more people, and is less prepared than Italy was. We have less tests. We have no cure. And we don't have enough respirators for people if they get sick. If we, with the amount of people we have in this country, reach the percentage of sick people Italy has, which is a VERY REAL chance of happening if this social distancing and shut down doesn't work, then we will have millions dead. We're only able to fight this thing until the hospitals are full. Until the doctors get sick too. And then, we're all fucked.
People younger and younger are dying and getting put in the hospital over this. People with no pre-existing conditions. This isn't an issue of age or pre-existing health anymore. Everyone is susceptible.
The only thing that bothers me about the shut down/quarantine is that our economy might not recover from this. Or at the very least it will be a very, very long time until it does. But right now, it's necessary.
I'm not scared of the virus or death. But I do care about the people around me that could get it from me if I had it. Also, if anyone you know dies from it a funeral won't happen. You don't get to visit them while in the hospital. None of that shit. If you have a kid and they get it, you don't get to see them or be there for them. And if they die from it they'll die alone. Idk about you but that's fucking terrible.
Also, where tf did you get 0.1% from? When this started that wasn't even the number, it was around 2%. Fuck even the new number they think it could be is 0.68%. But as it sits with all the cases that are closed/with outcomes it's 20% have died (globally). In the US 10,043 people have recovered with 6,088 deaths (the rest being active cases). It also isn't just killing older people, it's killing young people too. And we haven't even peaked yet. Not only that this thing isn't going to go away in a month or two. It's going to be around for a while, hopefully no longer than a year.
This virus is no joke and should be taken serious. It is deadlier than the flu and by the end of this it'll definitely reflect that even if people refuse to believe it.
