You should def get rid of him and find someone dedicated. I strongly disagree with taking a long hiatus. Momentum is a big deal. You’ve already done so much heavy lifting with this band
So just looking at numbers: They have 1.4k followers on Facebook, we have 2.9k They have 621 on Instagram, we have 593 They have 14 monthly listeners on Spotify, we have 32 So in terms of raw stats, we have a slight edge. They're not massive.
However, they have money and are able to afford 10k recording sessions with notable producers. The singer/guitarist also has a lot of friends in successful bands and is friends with the main booker at Reggies, so while they only play a few times a year, their shows are ALWAYS bigger. Like for instance they're opening for Ulcerate this week. The band practices four times a week, and its quite literally the only thing those guys do. They dont have girlfriends or social lives, they just practice all the time. So they're technically extremely good players. And they play tech death, which my guitarist enjoys a lot more musically than metalcore. I think thats the biggest push, he's playing technical complex death metal, which is what he's most interested in.
I understand preferring Tech Death to Metalcore. However, if he’s not going to be dedicated to the band and make a nuisance of himself the way it sounds, he should just move on
