its always been a big one with me, yeah its the odd man out. tims words always struck a chord with me, but it also takes memorable riffs to make the final product stick. I still think its very well done in that sense.
as much as I love vom, after the burial, and other bands lumped into the whole deathcore/metalcore basket, AILD has always stuck out the most to me.
I'm honestly fine with anybody claiming any mastodon as the best mastodon album as long as it's not The Hunter. That's just not true on any level
That's a matter of opinion. The Hunter and Blood Mountain are really close IMO. Mastodon is similar to Opeth though. All their albums are of very, very high quality

intentionally excluded tool and experimental/post-rock releases, even though some could be argued/contain metal.
I can agree with most of those, but 'Shadows are Security'? There had to be 20 albums released last year alone that are better than that

well, until powerless rise. that was weak.
to make a long explanation short, I like people who hire hits on their wives.
Watershed over Blackwater Park and Damnation?
damnation is close, but nah, watershed for sure.
I find your lack of Mastodon disturbing
fuck I did miss them.
add blood mountain
inb4leviathan
terrifyer>>>>>phantom limb

Damnation>
All of the Opeth albums from Blackwater to Watershed are top notch though. Kinda splitting hairs to differentiate between them imo

Damnation, Blackwater Park, and My Arms, Your Hearse are ny top 3 Opeth. But I agree I like all their albums. Even Heritage.
I'd prolly go like this for Opeth
Damnation
Blackwater
Deliverance
Watershed
Ghost Reveries
The older albums are good, but kinda embryonic for what their sound became. Heritage has moments, but it put me to sleep
Ghost reveries and the hunter would be my two
I'll order a flaggot supreme with extra cheese please
