never know unless you try. if i never strolled into that hardcore show in the late 90's, i would prolly be walking around listening to lil wayne shooting heroin.
I'd probably have to side with Satan, but I am by no means at all an expert on the topic. I just feel like hardcore is leaps and bounds more relevant than punk is right now.
That's because punk was an ethic and societal movement more than a sound. The bands that went on the Ramones trail ended up turning into hardcore. The Blondie alums went new wave. The Talking Heads progeny are art rock. Those styles of music were already present before the movement and remain now. They're just not called punk anymore because punk was a group of people in their 50s and 60s now
yeah but just cuz there's no scene in your area doesn't mean there isn't a scene in other areas. We have punk markets twice a year in Philly and Trenton. People come from all over the place to spread the word of their movement and it's not just the music, it's about anti government, anti police, anti god movement. Don't see much of a difference except it was worldwide before, now I guess it's just in some us cities and overseas??? But I highly doubt there's no punk in RI and ATL.. You's just don't give a fuck cause it's not relevant to your interests. You's have a complex about punk and whatnot used to be. Yeah it was a lot bigger back in the day, but goddamnit it's not dead. Type in ATL punk in the internet and go check out some new band with fresh faces and the same ideas but are lacking in numbers.

So was black metal... look how that turned out.
If you's ever go to Atlantic city, check out a club called the legrande fromage... And the boneyard, right next to each other. Huge punk scene.
