The only thing I will say is this. No- prolonging the relationship does not help the appearance that anything inappropriate never happened. Contrary to what your wife said, prolonging the relationship will 100% substantiate that something inappropriate happened and is still happening. If the guy is blackmailing her for sex (Not sure I really believe that is true), then it can be assured that he is going make this information well known. And continuing this inappropriate relationship on her part will only further legitimize his claims when he finally does make this information known. This isnt complex. If your wife does "omg, im sorry, i wanna be with you and only you, and I stopped everything with this guy, and blah blah" then she needs to cut all communication with him now. Any further inappropriate interaction with this child, does nothing but further legitimize the criminal wrong doing she did.
