Technically, I could divorce Shane and get everything paid for but I chose to say the words, "Till death do us part".

I would have milked the system if I were you. Marriage isnt a legal document, its a commitment between two people.

Milking the system just makes other people pay for my problems even further than they have to. I'm not that person. Technically, under NC law I can file for an annulment up to 99 years into my marriage if any person in the marriage (me) gets a life time disease and the other person can't handle it emotionally.

But the thing is Judy, it's the SYSTEM that is taking advantage of you. The healthcare you required (or still require) shouldnt cost you the 200k (just guessing) in medical bills you have racked up. The system has been artificially inflated so the rich can make themselves ever richer. By playing by the rules you are being taken advantage of.

So fuck yeah I approve of milking the system and getting around this fraud any way that you can.

I mean, cheating other taxpayers works for you but it's not the right thing to do. I think that the system isn't designed the way it should be, even if a for profit system is the way to go. Medicine as a concept doesn't really exist anymore, I took a class on this a year ago, and it is absolutely absurd how much the practice has changed from its roots.

People don't get into medicine to cure diseases anymore, they do it to treat your symptoms. Symptomatic medicine is the best for the doctors as opposed to their patients. Can you remind me the last time you went into the doctor's with an ailment then walked out saying, "well, don't have to worry about that problem for the rest of my life."

For profit medicine can work too, but it has to be restructured from the top to bottom, and that has nothing to do with government. 100% of research goes to curing, not treating, and we progress as a species. It'd be fine morally to charge patients for access to cures to the common cold, herpes, AIDs, cancer, everything. But it's so much smarter for them to give you painkillers until your body does the work for them, because you're just gonna get it again then come right back to them.

    Hippocrates would be ashamed.

I have no plans on trying to cheat anyone. Of course the docs here gave me all the pain killers and shit to "help" symptoms w/out even checking what caused it so my body didn't cure me, it just fucked me over.

It's kinda funny how we'll just say over 100 grand in medical bills could of been solved by a nice month supply of meds.

Doctors don't cure shit! They don't cure shit! The last disease doctors cured was polio, when's the last time you met someone with polio? "Why weren't you at work today?" "Oh, my polio's actin' up again!" They don't cure shit! They ain't curing it, 'cause there ain't no money in the cure. The money's in the medicine. That's how you get paid, on the comeback. That's how a drug dealer makes his money, on the comeback. That's all the government is: a bunch of motherfucking drug dealers, on the comeback. You think they're gonna cure AlDS? They're still mad at all the money they lost on polio!

So, what does this mean for someone like me that doesn't have health insurance?

well if your parents have it then they need to cover you on their plan. If they dont have it and you dont have it then you are going to have to pay a huge penalty if you dont buy private insurance from some company. good luck.

Because my dad lost his job, both my brother and I are uninsured. I have been for almost 5 years. How much of a fine and when does this go into effect?

It either goes into effect next year or the year after. Not sure which. And I dont know what the fine is... From what I read I think the fine is going to be more then what you would pay if you just bought health insurance (which is expensive... that wasnt fixed). However your dad is now required to buy it and you will be covered on his plan... So you shouldnt have to do something

Also... If you arent required to file income tax cause you dont make any money then I wonder if you could be fined? I'd guess no.

It would have been nice if Obama had fixed the outrageous costs of insurance which is a big reason why people are uninsured, but the law doesnt deal with that. Only makes it law that you must pay money to a insurance company.

My dad has it and my sister is covered, but because hi job isn't stable and both my brother and I are over 19, we got dropped. Hopefully it's not next year but the year after because I could probably afford insurance by then, other I'm fucked.

Nah... your good. This plan actually extends coverage for kids until they are like 26 when in school. That is one of the good benefits of this bill.
  • WakeOfAshesWakeOfAshes Posts: 21,665 destroyer of motherfuckers
Your dad's insurance company is just going to be forced to give you coverage. And they will then have to increase their premiums cause it's not like they are going to insure you for free... So your dad will pay more. The rich dont pay shit like this... it's passed onto people like your dad who is too small to complain or do anything about it.

So, wait? I'm not on my dad's plan. I'm only in school till next May and I'll be 24 in August. My brother isn't in school, but he might be. Is it coverage for me regardless of my dad's plan? Like, would I be on something completely separate?

I wonder if they're just gonna have clinics that only accept the obamacare or if any doctor can accept it.

You will probably end up on your dad's plan now, Britt.
