SEVENDUST / DROWNING POOL / DIGITAL SUMMER / THE FLOOD @Marquee Theater, Tempe, AZ: 3/14/10
Fucking awesome show... seemed like it went by really fast though. I was on the rail the whole time (until the last 4 or so Sevendust songs, where I gave my spot up to a kid and his dad because I'm a kind fucker.) And even at that, it only bumped me back about 4 feet.
THE FLOOD: Interesting band. They had a great beat, but the singer got way too "wannabe creepy"if you know what I mean. He got way too into his vocals and it just sounded weird. Apparently they had a track that was on the SAW VI soundtrack called Lethal Injection, which they closed with. Not too shabby minus the singer. I met the guitarist after the show and got a free poster signed by him.
DIGITAL SUMMER: I've heard of these guys many times. They're from here, so their stickers on random objects in the Phoenix area is a very common sight. They played better than The Flood, and their singer had way better steady vocals. I'd see them again. Maybe not on a Headlining tour, but certainly a great opening band. I managed to get my ticket signed by all 5 members too.
DROWNING POOL: Fucking awesome. Everything I expected that they would be. Even with the epic Dave Williams (RIP) not around, McCombs manages to kill at vocals. They opened with "Enemy", which I loved, and closed with "Tear Away" (my personal favorite) and "Bodies", for which I could not get any further photos seeing as the place went apeshit, as expected. This was their last night of the tour, but apparently they're coming back here very soon for some event. Can't wait. Oh, and I got a poster signed by each member too 1. Enemy 2. Sinner 3. Step Up 4. Soldiers 5. Shame 6. 37 Stitches 7. Feel Like I Do 8. Tear Away 9. Bodies
SEVENDUST: These guy still get some of the rowdiest crowds I've ever seen. Very hard to compare to them. They opened with "Black" which is funny because the last time I saw them (07), they closed with it. Then they moved on to my favorite, "Driven". The whole time, Lajon was pretty drunk and at one point toward the end, they dangled an owl from the top of the stage and Lajon turns oround and goes "HOLY SHIT.......... AN OWL!" I have no idea what this was about but whatever. Long story short, A chick fight broke out, I was screaming every word, and had a great time. the only thing that pissed me off was the fact that security made everyone leave before the crew could even get the setlists off. 1. Black 2. Driven 3. Alpha 4. Crucified 5. Hero 6. Trust 7. Suffocate 8. Xmas Day 9. Angel's Son 10. Unraveling 11. Forever Dead 12. Praise 13. Master of Puppets/Walk 14. Face to Face
Pics to be posted in my next post since I think I'm pushing my luck for word count here.....
this was the set last time i saw sevendust 1. Inside 2. Alpha 3. Enemy 4. Waffle 5. Crucified 6. Pieces 7. Suffocate 8. Angel's Son 9. Denial 10. Rumblefish (Assdrop) 11. Ugly 12.
