Already talked about the show in a couple other threads. Glad I got to to catch then last time around when Yellow & Green dominated the setlist. What sucks is I like Purple, I just haven't listened to it enough to love it yet. So many people in the crowd clearly really love it already. Grabbed one solid picture
Just got back from Baroness, setlist was the same as Chuck's. They were phenomenal. Also there were no bubbles so I guess that answers that question lol.
Everybody at the masonic temple line up at the wrong door...supposedly. When security told them all to move to the next set of doors, everybody frantically ran creating a mess. Then to make it worse, security at that door said they didn't even have enough people to open the doors on their side creating an even bigger mess. Friend and I are watching this unfold from across the street because we thought the line was wayyyyy too long to even bother fucking with but once that happened pounced on the chaos and were among the first in.
I took a drug I was told was molly from a biker chick at bonnaroo and had a hella good time but I was always skeptical and thought I may have done a little bit of meth. Well shortly after the first band Broncho finished their set I went ahead and took my dose of what I knew for sure was molly. I wish I would have taken it sooner because when portugal came on, they were awesome as always but I knew the potential for amazeballs was there. After awhile I started thinking I just wouldn't react much because my friend was already going nuts. Then it happened. During Head Is A Flame everything came rushing in and I was instantly having the best goddamn moment of my life. I underestimate how big Cage The Elephant are. I though they and Portugal were a really good fit and the crowd would equally be into both but there was literally one other guy beside my friend and I in like a 70 person area losing our fucking minds. I had originally been kind of upset that the stage set up for portugal was nothing at all like it was last time I saw them. Last time they had a video board with crazy ass psychedelic shit with insane lazers whereas this time is was a pretty standard light set up. Once the molly hit though it was zero issue lol
As for Cage the Elephant, I loved their first album and know it front to back. Kind of like the second one but I haven't listed to either of their last two which easily dominated the setlist. I didn't know the majority of the shit they played but I was rolling so hard it was easily one of the best shows I have ever seen. I'm sure even sober they would have impressed me because they just so tight with excellent stage presence. I've seen videos of their old shows back in the club tour days so I knew they were crazy as hell and used to jump in the crowd and shit like that so I was wondering how that would transfer into a massive setting like this. They pulled it off lol shit was great. Guitarist at one point walk around the barrier and into the crowd right where we were at and everybody lost their shit swarming around him. I went specifically for Portugal and if it weren't for them in probably would have never went to this tour just for Cage but fucking A man I will happily see them again next time they come around.
Also I absolutely love Purple but the 2013 show was a lot more fun, Purple just doesn't translate quite as well live. I hope on their next tour they stop playing nearly the full album in it's entirety and whittle it down to just 3 songs and slide some older stuff back into the setlist. Songs that I thought were the best live off of Purple were Chlorine and Wine, Desperation Burns, and If I Have to Wake Up. I was pretty salty they didn't play Swollen and Halo or The Sweetest Curse.
You got A Horse Called Golgotha, I don't want to hear your bitching.
I don't know of any Baroness fan who prefers Purple over their older stuff but the Purple songs still sounded fantastic live. The sound and mix were pristine last night.
It's my own fault for missing them on the Meshuggah tour and the Orion pre-show. Hopefully that's the last time I miss them, they really sounded great.
It was prolly methylone. It's called M1. People sell it as molly all the time. It gives you more of a speed-y kinda roll as opposed to the chill/relaxed roll you're supposed to feel off real MDMA. It's like 10x cheaper so faggots try to sell it as molly to strangers all the time.
