"We arrived in Delhi on Friday very excited and ready to play our first show ever in India at the F1 Rocks concert. However, immediately at the end of our afternoon press conference at a hotel near the venue, we were notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience. And our first and foremost concern is always for the safety of you, the fans.
"Once we, along with DNA, the promoters of the show, determined that there was a failure of a security barricade in front of the stage that could not be adequately repaired, the promoter reluctantly announced the postponement of the show until Saturday. Unfortunately, on such short notice the promoters were unable to secure a permit for a show on Saturday. Therefore, DNA announced that we would not be able to play in Delhi. Within the next 24 hours a notification will be issued by DNA regarding the process for full refunds.
"We are deeply disappointed with this news as we were looking forward to our first experience in India as much as you guys were. Keep watching here for updates [on the official METALLICA web site] as additional details are determined and confirmed."
According to NDTV, crowds started lining up at about 3 p.m.today, with 25,000 fans having purchased tickets to tonight's concert. Several announcements were reportedly made throughout the afternoon requesting people to move back because the barrier in front of the stage was giving way. The crowd got increasingly more restive with every such announcement, objecting and booing.
After the announcement that the concert had been canceled, angry fans tried to damage equipment near the stage; some tried to set fire to banners near the stage. Others hurled plastic 10-litre bottles of water onto the stage.
Gurgaon police chief hit out at organizers saying they should have told the administration about postponing the show. "They have to explain why they canceled it," he told reporters, soon after it was announced that the concert was postponed. "They have not told anything to us," he said.
METALLICA is scheduled to perform in Bangalore on Sunday.
Tony Lorenzo, guitarist and founding member of Buffalo death metal band Sons Of Azrael, was shot by an armed robber while walking in Buffalo's Elmwood Village earlier this week. The 25 year-old is currently paralyzed from the waist down, with a bullet lodged in his spinal column.
Lorenzo's friend, Alex Artemas, told WIVB in Buffalo that "[Lorenzo] and I were just walking to a friend's house, and it was just a complete random hit, came from behind, never saw it coming."
According to Lorenzo, "The kid asked me, he said, 'Give me what you got.' And before I could even get my wallet out, he just shot me."
You can view WIVB's full story on the matter here.
Meanwhile, a PayPal account (helpingtony@gmail.com) has been set up to accept donations for Lorenzo.
Now that Lamb of God is 100% done with their new record, expect the promtion for the record to kick into fullswing. Today, the band revealed the album title has been set, and it is called Resolution. The album is slated to be released in early 2012 and the band promised more information later in the week. The Richmond, Virginia natives went all out this time around. There will be a track on this record that features a full orchestra and a choir. Here is what drummer Chris Adler had to say about it:
“Yeah — there’s opera singers, a whole symphony going on — it’s crazy,” Adler said of the new song, which actually features a brooding Blythe, singing slowly over the opening. “We were trying to figure out how to not be black metal but do something totally different. I think we succeeded.”
Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM have parted ways with guitarist Ville Vänni and replaced him with Markus Vanhala (OMNIUM GATHERUM).
Commented Vänni: "With a heavy heart I have reached the decision to resign from INSOMNIUM. The decision is mutual and final, and there is no big drama behind it.
"During the last year I have found myself in a limbo of constant lack of time and impossible schedules. Combining a general surgeon's career with a busy metal band like INSOMNIUM has already taken years of precise timing, and the candle has been burning from both ends for years now. At the same time, INSOMNIUM has grown bigger demanding more and more time. As a result, I have gradually come to a painful realization that I can not meet the needs of this roller coaster ride any more.
"This decision was hard to make and accept for all of us. INSOMNIUM has been like a family and the bandmates have been (and will still remain) my best and closest friends. For not being able to give my 100% would only be letting them down. The reason why this decision is made flesh right now is that I will not be able to attend the 'One For Sorrow' European tour. My wife is due to give birth to our first son and it is my responsibility, duty and choice to be home at that time. I will play two first shows in Finland and then bid farewell. However, the burden of this decision is lightened by the fact that INSOMNIUM will go on and even grow stronger after my retirement. Markus Vanhala from OMNIUM GATHERUM will take my place as a full-time guitarist in INSOMNIUM. He is a good friend and an excellent musician and has already been replacing me and Ville F. on several occasions.
"Thank you Niilo, Ville and Markus for a decade of good times and a lifetime of friendship and unforgettable memories. And thank you, all INSOMNIUM fans, it is you who made this all possible! See you on the coming shows!"
Added the remaining members of INSOMNIUM: "We all want to thank Ville for everything and totally support him with his decision. We've been together for ten years with this lineup and it has been a great ride. We've been a band of brothers, we've been a family. Nothing will ever change that.
"This is the beginning of a new era for INSOMNIUM.
"Sometimes a change is needed to keep the band going. Luckily we have got the best possible man to fill the vacancy, our good friend Markus Vanhala, who is best known as the songwriter and lead guitarist of OMNIUM GATHERUM. Markus will naturally continue in OMNIUM GATHERUM and unfortunately our tour schedules collide in November when OMNIUM GATHERUM is participating the Neckbreaker's Ball. As a result, we’ll have Tuomas Jäppinen as a second guitarist for the first seven evenings of the tour. Tuomas is also our old buddy and he is best known as the songwriter and lead guitarist of ENTER MY SILENCE. Tuomas is doing us a huge favour in delivering a killer show every night. So, make sure Tuomas feels welcomed when he hits the stage! Markus will join our ranks in München and play all the German shows on the tour.
"Dear friends, do not take these news too heavily. INSOMNIUM is not dying or withering away — we will be stronger than ever and we will keep touring and making new music. Give Ville Vänni the kind of farewell shows he deserves and come to see us perform in Joensuu on November 4th and Helsinki on November 5th. Then come and meet the new gang on the Euro tour. See you soon!"
SONS OF AZRAEL Guitarist Paralyzed From Waist Down Following Robbery
WIVB out of Buffalo is reporting that Sons Of Azrael guitarist Tony Lorenzo has been paralyzed from the waist down. He was walking with a friend around 10:30PM last Wednesday night (Oct. 26) in Buffalo's Elmwood Village when he was accosted by an armed robber.
From his hospital bed, Tony Lorenzo told News 4, "I was robbed. I can't feel my legs right now."
For now, 25-year-old Tony Lorenzo is paralyzed from the waist down, with a bullet lodged in his spinal collumn. It happened Wednesday night at about 10:30 on Bird Avenue near Richmond.
Tony's friend, Alex Artemas, said, "Him and I were just walking to a friend's house, and it was just a complete random hit, came from behind, never saw it coming."
"The kid asked me, he said, 'Give me what you got.' And before I could even get my wallet out, he just shot me," said Tony.
Initial reports were that the victim may have known his attacker.
Tony's mom, Caroline Bronckers, said, "He absolutely did not know his attacker, and I want that cleared."
Tony added, "I'm not a gang banger. I'm not someone who owes anyone money. I don't start beefs. I'm just a normal guy, you know? I work at Pano's Restaurant."
He's also lead guitarist in a local band, and has spent his whole life in the Elmwood and Bird area. He was surprised to hear that the attack on him came one week after a man with a gun forced his way into a home on Ashland Avenue.
"I'm not going run away from my town. I'm not going to up and move away. I want people on the west side to realize this stuff is happening and to look out for each other," said Tony.
The determination of Tony and his family even prompted the mayor to come to ECMC and pay him a visit at his bedside.
Tony said, "Byron Brown walked up here on his own accord and told me he is sparing no expense to find who did this to me, and I can't tell you you how proud I was to hear that."
Doctors have to wait for the swelling to go down before they can remove the bullet. Friends in the local music community plan to hold some kind of fundraiser, but their first hope is catching the man who did this.
Sadly that will probably make them believe they are even more "hardcore". Its just fueling that shittastic thing called ICP that people consider music.
I've been lost in endless seas
My heart died long ago
I curse my failures as I fall from you
God must really want these guys to die or something lol
Decapitated Survives Plane Crash, Cancels Upcoming Festival Shows
Polish technical death metal band Decapitated have pulled out of the upcoming Damnation Festival in Leeds and the Aalborg Metal Festival due to a plane crash. Apparently, the band was on a flight back to Poland from the U.S. and was forced to make an emergency landing in Warsaw when landing gear failed. Miraculously, no one was killed.
Ulver has agreed to fill in by extending the band's set to 90 minutes.

NEW YORK (AP) — Darren Aronofsky will direct a music video from the new Metallica and Lou Reed album, "Lulu." The Oscar-nominated director of "Black Swan" and "The Wrestler" will produce a video for the track, "Iced Honey." Aronofsky brings his cameraman, Matthew Libatique, to the project as director of photography. The clip will be shot in the San Francisco Bay area and will be available for viewing later this month. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said Thursday that working with Reed and Aronofsky is "living the dream." And the avant-garde Reed said he hopes the video can be "his Black Swan." Released Tuesday, the joint venture between the singer-songwriter and the metal band was inspired by German playwright Frank Wedekind. Years ago, the Wedekind play, "Spring Awakening," won the Tony for best musical.
GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Urungus) has released the following statement to MetalSucks:
"It is with a sense of profound loss and tragedy that the members of GWAR must announce the passing of their longtime guitarist and beloved friend Cory Smoot, also known to thousands of metal fans worldwide as Flattus Maximus. Cory was found deceased this morning as the band prepared for a border crossing. There is no word as to the cause of death and the members of GWAR are completely shocked and devastated that this has occurred. At this point there is no word on arrangements and the disposition of the remainder of GWAR's current North American tour, nor are there any details regarding long-term plans. At this point we are just dealing with the loss of our dear friend and brother, one of the most talented guitar players in metal today. We ask that our fans and the media be respectful of our request for privacy for those that have suffered this terrible loss. A full statement will be coming in the next day or so, in the meantime please give your thoughts and your prayers to Cory, his family, and all the people that love him."
Cory joined GWAR in September 2002. Being a talented producer, he lent his technical skills to the recording of "War Party", and co-produced, as well as co-mixed with Devin Townsend (STEVE VAI, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) GWAR's 2006 release, titled "Beyond Hell". The two albums were recorded at Karma Studios, owned and operated by Smoot.
Smoot was the longest-running Flattus and was in the videos for "War Party", "Bring Back The Bomb", "Womb With A View", "School's Out" and "Eighth Lock". Smoot was considered by GWAR fans to be the "true Flattus", as he was the longest-serving person to portray the character in GWAR history. Smoot also produced the follow-up to "Beyond Hell", "Lust In Space", along with other members of GWAR, and even sang lead vocals on the track "Release The Flies". GWAR's latest release, "Bloody Pit Of Horror", features a 12-minute epic of four songs strung together, which was largely the brainchild of Smoot. Originally he wrote the music for a solo project of his, but by the suggestion of Dave Brockie, it was reworked to become new GWAR material.
