NYC's unholy black metal warriors Black Anvil have begun writing their follow-up to 2010's critically acclaimed Triumvirate. The band has begun tracking rough demos for the new full length and plan to record in early 2013. Bassist/vocalist Paul Delaney commented on the new material:
"This is a darker, deeper record than our previous releases and a natural progression down the chosen path. Musically, and lyrically.. we will take our form to the next level."
NINE MORE AWESOME MUSICIANS ADDED TO DEATH TO ALL TOUR, INCLUDING FORMER MEMBER OF, UM, DEATH
OH MY FUCKING LORD, the Death to All Tour somehow just got even more awesome. In case seeing a bunch of old Death tunes being performed by former members of that band (including Paul Masvidal, Shannon Hamm, Bobby Koelble, Gene Hoglan, Sean Reinert, Steve DiGiorgio, and Scott Clendenin) while being fronted by Obscura’s Steffen Kummerer and Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott AFTER either Gorguts or Atheist have opened the show wasn’t enough to make your sexual organs explode with excitement, it has now been announced that NINE MORE TOTALLY RAD DUDES have been added to the tour — including the great Richard Christy, one former member Death who seemed conspicuously absent from the already-announced roster of participants.
The only downside (if you can even call it a downside) is that the tour’s organizers aren’t announcing which of these guys will be playing at which shows — only that “There will be guest appearances in each city and some cities may have more than one surprise in store.” So if, for example, you’re really stoked on the idea of seeing Awesome Musican A, there’s no guarantee you won’t end up seeing Awesome Musician B instead. That being said, it’s really hard for me to imagine you being disappointed in seeing ANY of these guys, as they’re all great.
Richard Christy (Death, Charred Walls of the Damned) Alex Skolnick and Chuck Billy (Testament) Paul Ryan (Origin) Craig Locicero (Forbidden) Travis Ryan (Cattle Decaptiation) Trevor Strnad and Ryan Knight (The Black Dahlia Murder) Emil Werstler (Dååth, Chimaira)
Why the fuck are they all on this? With the exception of Richard Christy (who btw is playing the Orlando and NY dates, he said so in an interview)
Against Me! singer Tom Gabel reveals plans to begin living as a woman in the new issue of Rolling Stone. Gabel, who has dealt privately with gender dysphoria for years, will soon begin the process of transition, by taking hormones and undergoing electrolysis treatments.
Gabel will eventually take the name Laura Jane Grace, and will remain married to her wife Heather. "For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news," says Gabel. "But she's been super-amazing and understanding."
Gabel only told a handful of family and friends about her plan to transition before talking to Rolling Stone. Because this is the first time a major rock star has come out as transgender, the singer made a point of speaking openly about it. "I'm going to have embarrassing moments," says Gabel, "and that won't be fun. But that's part of what talking to you is about – is hoping people will understand, and hoping they'll be fairly kind."
The full story of Gabel's transformation is in the latest issue, on newsstands this Friday (May 11th). In it, the singer tells Josh Eells about her history of gender dysphoria, the specifics of the transition process and what becoming Laura Jane Grace will mean for the future of Against Me!
the he/she isnt the first anyways. i've seen on metalsucks many times post about some other dude who did the same thing. i dont remember his/her name because i dont give a fuck.
personally i dont understand it. i have zero problems with peoples sexual orientation. be it straight, gay, bi i dont really give a fuck but i just dont understand these people who feel like they need to have surgery to change who they are, and i dont understand how his wife or whatever could be ok with it. so she was straight but now she will be gay because her husband decided to be a women now......shit just boggles my fucking mind
Bill Kelliher's side project PRIMATE: Debut Album To See Official Release Via Relapse Records
Having signed with Relapse Records last year, Atlanta-based thundergrinders PRIMATE will formally unleash their debut LP via the label in the scorching Summer months ahead.
... After seeing a limited release by the band directly via a 1000-run CD pressing in March of 2011, PRIMATE's crushing Draw Back A Stump will see an official worldwide Relapse release on July 3rd on CD, LP and deluxe digital download. The seven hymns from the initial version now include additional rhythm guitars and have been remixed and remastered, and are joined with three additional previously-unreleased bonus tracks on this edition.
An all-star band comprised of extreme music scene vets hellbent on delivering Grade-A punk the likes of which has not been set loose on the ears of the world since the glory days hardcore, PRIMATE channel decades of international extreme music influences into a glorious record of hellish rage all their own. Upon its initial release Decibel Magazine praised Draw Back A Stump calling it "grind with elements of classic U.K. crust, Swedish D-beat and American hardcore, plus just enough experimentation to create the aural equivalent of a watch throwing springs and gears in every direction while keeping perfect time," with Metal-Army America adding "Draw Back A Stump has all the bells and whistles of old-school hardcore and the best of modern sludgey-grind" and Grind To Death boasted the record is "like no other grind I have heard...borrowing from the crisp clean metal stylings and structures merged with the rhythmical pogo stick bouncings of punk to make its own blend of music."
Stay tuned for more info on the release of Draw Back A Stump, PRIMATE live confrontations and more through the coming months. Preorders for the album are available now HERE http://www.relapse.com/primate-draw
