I think my point is proven, those who knock Pantera really never gave them a chance. The 3 songs you named are their 3 most popular songs, and to be honest all 3 of those songs are at the bottom of my list on Pantera songs. They have of better shit out there. All I'm saying is before I say i cannot stand a particular band, I give them a thorough listen. I think alot of people that talk shit on Pantera really never listened to them and are only bashing because they are hyped. I can understand if one doesn't like a band, but at least give me a reason other then they are over hyped. And people should still respect pantera for keeping hevy music alive when it was going down the drain in the 90's. They have influenced most of the bands all of us listen to today.

I like Pantera a lot, I just don't like them nearly as much as my favorite bands and don't think they would have held the same staying power as the Metallicas and Megadeths and Maidens were it not for a certain shooting.
I've listened to Cowboys from Hell and Vulgar Display of Power in full. They're nothing special. Pantera is meh at best.
meh? that's your reasoning??? you can do better than that...
Well each album has it's share of good songs, but there are few I'd say are great. There's probably only 1 or 2. They're just a typical Groove Metal band.

I don't think they suck, I just don't care for them at all. I can't keep listening to music I just absolutely do not want to listen to.
I also said I can't stand them just to get a rise out of ya anyway, cause I like pushing people's buttons. {Upload|6756}

for all we know if dime was still alive pantera would be a hair metal band again
Slap *facepalm* typical groove metal band? theyre the band who put groove metal on the map. Phil's vocal style was something unique when everything was all high pitched, nothing wrong with that, all I'm saying is theyre original. The guitar work is very good, dime was a beast on guitar. their drummer is meh, but alot of good bands have meh drummers. I understand if you don't like the band, but they are just not overrated, slayer is overrated. pantera was a driving force in the metal scene for theor originality and their putting groove /sludge on the map and also mixing great music like that with killer metal riffs and stellar solos. dime's not the greatest ever, but he is not overrated. someone who saw dime live tell me he isnt good please?

imo Pantera was huge before dime died, they were selling out arenas and headlining ozzfest. i can understand why young people think they are overrated, but the thing is people dont understand is, pantera was just as big before he died. whenever anyone dies a band is going to get more attention, but they were huge before he died and fans were screaming for a reunion. back in the day pantera was the biggest thing out there for a while with priest, sabbath broken up, metallica slackin, pantera kept it real.
