I think. either way we(cali) dont have as stict of building codes as japan, building WILL fall. and maybe a tsunami too which wont reach me(im in a valley, mountains all around) but will fuck the bay up.
Cali building codes are top class.... from everything to residential to skyscrapers.
Japan was ahead of the game in seismic structural support.... thats why the quake really didn't do much damage to the structure systems of the buildings.
it scary cause of the shock value when you first feel it.... and have everything fall off of shelves and shit.
but after a couple seconds... those elementary school earthquake drills start to kick in; and you're pretty safe then. (unless the entire building topples on top of ya)
Well, I'd be completely terrified if I ever felt one, mainly because I live in PA and that shit never happens here. I don't think we ever even had earthquake drills in school.
ha in the earthquake drill here you go under a desk n into the fetal position facing the ground with your hands behind your head/neck. We have the stay quiet thing too, lol

That's the same drill they had in the 60's for nuclear warheads...no lie
i feel bad for japan. they're on our side, dont forget that people. they learned their lesson after a couple A bombs lol. but in all seriousness, i hope everything works out for them.

this is an extremly upsetting story.
Japan was ahead of the game in seismic structural support.... thats why the quake really didn't do much damage to the structure systems of the buildings.
it was a 6.4-ish quake.... but Cali wasn't prepared for it. Our apartment building cracked, basically in half.
needless to say..... California has progressed tenfold since then in quake readiness
