Well, I'll be honest, I am slightly biased in one series. the Caps/Rags series. I hate the Rangers so much.
But it isn't just a bias. Without Callahan there is no way the Rangers can beat the Capitals. The Capitals changed their style of play from a run and gun offense to a very defensive system MID SEASON! and really started to come on strong. Let's put this into perspective. The Capitals finished 1st in the East, but scored LESS goals, than my 14th place Islanders did! Also, everybody for the 1st half of the season was questioning whether Neuvirth/Varlamov would be a good tandem. Well, they just had to be decent, because the team got so strong defensively, that the Capitals are actually 3rd in the league in goals against. 1 spot ahead of the Rangers and Lundqvist.
Missing Callahan's goals, as well as his defensive ability will really hurt the Rangers. Lundqvist will have to stand on his head just to give them a chance to win this.
Washington may have switched to a defensive system, but they still have Semin/Backstrom/Ovechkin who can score just about whenever they hell they feel like it.
The Rangers may have won the season series, and won a couple games 7-0 and 4-0, but this is a completely different Washington team now.
So for this series, my prediction is Washington in 6.
Lundqvist wins them two 2-1 games, and Wash's goalies slip up just a bit, but other than that, Washington pounces on the Rangers hard.
yeah i was just being a smartass, but i dont personally know anyone that is a fan of the wild but then again i live in ontario and 98% of the people i know are leaf fans
