Medical City Hospital spokeswoman Bianca Jackson said Alexander died Wednesday night at the Dallas facility. She declined to comment on cause of death.
Alexander was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow, in 2005, four years after his career ended in Oakland.
The former Kansas State player spent nine seasons with four teams. After one year with Tampa Bay in 1992, Alexander spent three seasons each in Denver and Indianapolis. He made 29 starts in 30 games for Oakland during the final two years of his career in 2000-01.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Get ready for Rex: Unplugged.
The chatty New York Jets and their brash coach, Rex Ryan, will be featured on HBO's "Hard Knocks" training camp series this summer. The team announced Thursday that it was chosen by the cable channel and NFL Films for the five-episode documentary.
"We're going to let the fans in on something that they've never seen up close and personal," Jets owner Woody Johnson said. "This is going to be kind of the king's new clothes. I think you can argue that there's no other team in the league right now that's kind of more interesting than the New York Jets."
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of course Jaykers. you know damn well he is the most entertaining guy in sports. you can hate the man all you want, but you know this is perfect for him. this should be fun the Bengals one was pretty good.
NEW YORK -- The Jets announced Friday that they have signed former Seattle Seahawks linebacker and special-teams captain Lance Laury.

Yeah, they have the foundation and everything, but that team will end up revolving around how he does. If he performs poorly, they lose, if he performs...okay, they win.
Probably the best D in the NFL next year, and they could use another WR, but they've got Washington whose great out of the backfield, and Greene. They're good, but it all comes down to Sanchez's consistency.
"I think that team has to work on consistency with Sanchez before you can put them anywhere."
With that defense? Sanchez in his second year? They have plenty of tools on offense for Sanchez, as much as I hate the guy."
^this
The Jets D is pretty damn scary at the moment. Sanchez is coming along very good and with Greene and LT at RB and with a good WR. they have a very good chance of going back to the title game.
