Ugh... Protools hates Windows. Always having weird issues.
hate apple but from what I hear it's the way to go for music production
Really, its only because Logic/Garageband are exclusive to Apple, and Protools is dildos in Windows.
The real reason is: most recording software reads sound drivers like on a Mac. So when you put a program on Windows, you need to download an ASIO program to get your soundcard read. I use ASIO4ALL.
The issue comes in, is that when using an ASIO, only one program can utilize the card at a time. Meaning if I wanted to watch a how-to video, while working on a project, I could only hear my project, and the video wont have sound.
Additionally, the ASIO is like ingrained in the program. I dont have the ability to change my playback engine. Even if I have an external interface plugged in. Doesnt even give me a dropdown menu.
Nah PCs suck dick. My iMac was the smartest purchase I ever made as far as music. I purposely tried to overload it by using a ridiculous amount of plug ins to see what it could handle and that mf kept goin steady.
I paid $2000 for my laptop, which is about as much as a Mac laptop, and my computer shits on any Mac with how powerful it is.
Not to mention once you start building PCs you can make MUCH more powerful computers, for much less, with custom parts that way YOU want it. If something goes bad, replace it. Out of date, upgrade it.. Macs can't even swap parts out. Something goes wrong or bad, you need to send it in or buy a new one.
