ape's opinion is a good reason why 2/3 of the movies that come out now are remakes or updates. the studios respond to the audiences and give them what they want. if the audience doesn't give a shit about something being fresh and new, neither do the studios. it's not like there is a lack of creativity in film, it's just that creative filmmakers aren't given many opportunities right now.
