We had the best rotation in baseball in 2013 and lost in the ALCS because Dombrowski couldn't cobble together a bullpen. We had Verlander (mid-injury recovery so he wasn't at his best), Price, Scherzer, and Porcello in our rotation in 2014 and didn't win a game in the playoffs that year because bullpen plus rookie manager fuckups. Somehow the 2012 team made the World Series only to get swept.
I wouldn't trade that era of Tigers baseball for anything but how we didn't get one World Series out of the window from 2011-2014 is beyond me.
Cleveland's not going anywhere next year with that pitching staff. They'll be right there again with a healthy Brantley, their best hitter who they missed all of this season, and a full year of Miller the bullpen ace. Meanwhile Kansas City and Detroit are looking to trim payroll and will be probably be the same or worse, Chicago is in dire need of a teardown and might move Sale, and Minnesota isn't leaving the basement until they find pitching.
The Braves have been one of the headliners looking to deal for Sale. I couldn't be happier
And I agree about the Indians. I reminded my family all through the playoffs that the Indians were doing all that without their best player and 2 stud starters. They're gonna have a confidence coming back next year the way the Royals did last year

Same with the Braves. We had the single best pitching staff in the NL, if not the entire MLB. But our offense was lacking, and to many choking moments cost us the advance two straight years.
We need a catcher to platoon with James McCann, who mashes lefties but can't hit righties. Castro hits left-handed, can't hit lefties, but hits righties. He may not be interested in not playing full-time but he should at least be considered. He won't be too expensive.
