I'm kind of tired of people talking about him. When it happened, a year after it happened, even ten years later dude just wants to be left alone to lead a normal life. People want to drag him out of the shadows and I get why but they need to let it go, he is okay with letting the past be the past it's time for everyone else to and has been for a while.
You tryin to be a hero fool? You wanna see badass mother fucker?! I'll show ya a badass!!!
Boston is easily the most likely candidate for this type of trade. They have the money and they have the obvious connection via Dombrowski. If the Triggers could pry a combination of Yoan Moncado and some pitching prospects to go along with the massive salary relief, would you do it? Both Cabrera and Verlander have shown signs of decline the last 3 years. It would allow you to hold on to guys like JD Martinez. I know you'd rather get rid of Sanchez, Pelfrey or Zimmerman, but the Tigers would likely have to eat substantial portions of their salaries to facilitate that and it would kinda defeat the purpose.
Verlander posted some of the best numbers of any pitcher last year and Cabrera is still one of if not the best hitter in the game. I wouldn't trade either of them for anything.
I see both sides. Detroit could easily end up in the same predicament the Yankees found themselves in this season, where they had to eat a bunch of money and force guys into retirement. Verlander and Cabrera could easily turn into Sabathia and A-Rod. At the same time, Cabrera is prolly about 3 seasons away from 3000 hits and Verlander got himself back together enough this year to think he might be able to live out his current deal as a top starter. I dunno. Avila's statements lead me to believe at least one of them is gonna be shopped
They both have 10/5 rights so they could veto any trade. I don't see it happening, regardless of how much of a haul we could get. I have no doubt JV could get us a lot. I'm skeptical if anyone would take Miggy's contract at this point. I don't know what the right answer is, but I seriously doubt the team would be willing to take a major attendance hit by selling off their most iconic players. There's probably a couple painful seasons coming up no matter what, but I still think they want to go for it next year.
Considering the size of the Cubs celebrations, people behaved pretty well. Only a handful of arrests, and really only one big report for property damage (a telephone pole). Chicago didnt burn. Im happy about that.
"The one downside on Verlander is that he is already 33 years old, and aside from last year, has been on the decline for a few seasons...." "Maybe a reunion with his old pitching coach in Atlanta is exactly what he needs to get back to his old ways consistently."
Sure, age is a concern, but other than a season that he spent recovering from core muscle surgery, he's been Justin fucking Verlander. He has a legitimate Cy Young case this season that compares favorably with his 2011-2012 seasons. He's still a stud. I think the article is undervaluing him big-time.
No and I regret it yet don't due to how disgustingly jam packed everything was.
And before any shit is talked, the majority of the people I personally know that went are thots that never watched a single sports game in their life and jus went to get fucked up and day drink and act like diehards. So that truly wasn't a "real fan" thing.
