I just read about this. IMO it's a great move for Detroit. Upton wasn't comfortable as a leader in Atlanta. He needs to have Verlander and Cabrera around to allow him to just do his thing. He's a really talented guy and a solid compliment for Cabrera. I especially like the way the contract gives the opt out at 2 years since they may be ready to rebuild around that point since their pieces are aging. Solid offseason for the Tigers.
Yeah, I didn't understand that either. I can understand the signing I guess. He's familiar with the division, but he hasn't had a good year the entire time he's been in MIN.
Im excited for the addition of K-rod. I'm hoping we finally found the agin vetran closer who is actually still good. Everyone we have tried to use got signed and then had some of the worst ears of their career's lol. I'm excited to see Zimmerman. He got off to a rocky start last year but ended up with a solid year. Hopefully Sanchez can return to form.
The Nationals were toxic last year. Zimmerman is a horse. He will be a capable #1 guy if Verlander really is toast. K-Rod has hid in Milwaukee for so long that I can't help but wonder if the stress of being on another prominent team won't make him pop a spring the way he did in New York. The way they've had such issues with closers for so long, I'm a little confused why they didn't make more of an effort to get Soria back. Especially considering he's more of a known quantity. At least if K-Rod fails, he isn't stupid expensive so if they have to trade for someone it won't kill them
Yeah I had Zimmerman on my fantasy team. After April he was solid.
JV is a number one still. He really only had one bad year. He had a 3.38 era and was almost back to a strike out per inning last year. It was the first time in 2-3 years he was healthy. He's still got some gas left in the tank. His velocity is t what it was but he can still hit mid 90's so in not worried.
Yankees got good pitching. Problem is they play in a little league park. That should help the terrible line up they are going to trot out every night doe.
Nah the problem is age. Half the team gets injured or wears down over the season (Arod, teixeira, Beltran, gardner, ellsbury). We're getting younger doe. All we need is another solid SP and Im hoping thats gonna he Severino. I think hes got the potential to be an ace. Then when Bird and Judge are ready to take over for teixeira and beltran we'll be set.
Yeah Yankees do have some good younger guys. I'm interested to see how some of them develop. Have the Orioles been linked to cespedes since signing Davis? I would have loved to have him back but he is such a streaky player.
Most people are saying that their offer to Cespedes is off the table since the resigned Davis but Ive heard they could still sign him. Although if Upton got 125, Cespedes might be looking for a little more than 90 mil. Their lineup with look pretty scary with Machado, Davis, Cespedes, and Trumbo but their rotation still blows. They might have the offense to make a playoff run but they dont have the pitching to keep them in the postseason.
