It better not flop at the ending. I will be PISSED. This is from wiki:

Not so very long ago, Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider—was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?

yeah... same. One can only google "inheritance cycle" for so many days before he starts losing hope. So excited it is coming out.

It's not the greatest books ever, but they were pretty dang good and I have been left hanging for far too long.

Well considering the other three were pretty solid, I doubt he will flop.

I have to say though... I think the series might be more interesting with an unhappy ending. :-))

It will probably have a somewhat happy ending. I just hope he doesn't go with the would Eragon & Arya thing. Gotta reread them too this summer. :D

Oh I'm sure they will end up together and he will defeat Galbatorix. I am guessing they will be crippled in some way like the elf. I've even suspected that Saphira will sacrifice herself for Eurgon.

Yeah. :( I'm going to try not to speculate between now and November. I honestly forget most of the 3rd book, so I need to redive into them.

Nola - Like I previously mentioned, I am a slow reader... However I am up to about chapter 10 of women. I am wondering why exactly you thought this would be a book I'd enjoy?

Although he does have an interesting style and I have to say I do find his obsessive drinking amusing, It really isnt pulling me in. I'm typically not a fan of books that spend an excessive amount of time in sexual situations. (ie... pornos masquerading as literature). I'll finish reading this because I like to finish what I start, but I doubt I'll be reading any more of his literature. WHo knows though, he might win me over by the end.

Nola - If you are interested in what I consider a perfect book, check out "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress" by Robert A. Heinlein. Although this is not my favorite book, it is for sure top 3 and it is only 300 odd pages so it is a fairly quick read. This book is perfect because the characters are interesting, the story is original and interesting, and it has a really deep philosophical message underneath the story. Since you were a history major, you actually might find this book refreshing from a political standpoint. check it out!

Well let me put it this way.....
First of all, like ive said his poetry is really where its at IMO. I do enjoy his books immensely but they are very different from other books. His story is basically written as Henry Chinaski, but its pretty much just another name for him, he is basically the main character in the story. His books are known to get repetitive because I feel he is stronger in free verse poetry and short stories. It may take you fie pages of drunken debacles but you eventually get to a real deep thinking point, in this books case usually about Women and Men and Reltaionships. This book is not meant to be enjoyed for the story, the characters, the places, etc.... its supposed to make you think of how alone most of are in our lives, even when we are inside relationships. i just related to alot of things he said abou lonliness, solitude, love, fear, hoplessness, and truth. If your looking just for a good story then this is not a top notch book, you could find hundreds better. but if you look the right way, this and his other books can open your eyes like theyve never been openned before. Now Wake you seem like a very Optimistic go getter type person, and Bukowski(Chinaski) is not really at all lol. i thought you would might want to read him because he has such a different life view than you but is also very smart and deep and I was interested on how you would interpret the guy

"New affairs were exciting but they were also hard work. The first kiss, the first fuck had some drama. People were interesting at first. Then later, slowly but surely, all the flaws and madness would manifest themselves. I would become less and less to them; they would mean less and less to me."

"Women: I liked the colors of their clothing; the way they walked; the cruelty in some faces; now and then the almost pure beauty in another face, totally and enchantingly female. They had it over us: they planned much better and were better organized. While men were watching professional football or drinking beer or bowling, they, the women, were thinking about us, concentrating, studying, deciding - whether to accept us, discard us, exchange us, kill us or whether simply to leave us. In the end it hardly mattered; no matter what they did, we ended up lonely and insane."

"There is a problem with writers. If what a writer wrote was published and sold many, many copies, the writer thought he was great. If what a writer wrote was published and sold a medium number of copies, the writer thought he was great. If what a writer wrote was published and sold very few copies, the writer thought he was great. If what the writer wrote never was published and he didn't have the money to publish it himself, then he thought he was truly great. The truth, however, was that there was very little greatness. It was almost nonexistent, invisible. But you could be sure that the worst writers had the most confidence, the least self-doubt. Anyway, writers were to be avoided, and I tried to avoid them, but it was almost impossible. They hoped for some sort of brotherhood, some kind of togetherness. None of it had anything to do with writing, none of it helped at the typewriter."

Quotes like these make the book worth reading...

Thanks. Yeah, I will finish reading it and you are right it might give me some good perspective. I'll let you know how I interpret him after I am done with the book. \m/
