A mediocre movie is still a mediocre movie. That the Fant4stic bullshit that came out, and Suicide Squad are proof that just because theres more coming out, doesnt mean its all worth watching.
And if i was inclined to give a little slack to a subpar comic book movie in the name of artistic vision, it would have to be to a movie that has....you know, actual artistic vision. Something like Todd McFarlane trying to make a new Spawn movie. Or Del Toro trying to make a Justice League Dark movie for the last decade because he loves the property so much. Or the creator of Judge Dredd and the actors from the film lobbying for a sequel.
But with billion dollar companies like Fox, Sony, and Disney that simply buy up properties that they had no help in creating and are simply trying to make money off of, I'm supposed to be grateful that they choose to make movies of something i like even if its bad?
Fuck that. Use your billion dollars to buy some talent faggots.
It's Sony. While I don't doubt that it will suck , I will at least give it a chance first instead of making up my mind before I go see it. No doubt there have been a lot of really bad comic movies. Keep in mind though that if they had stopped after this
Hardy was a conflicting schedule away from being in Suicide Squad so.....
or is that a nice way of saying he didn't want to do it
Nope. The Revenant ran over schedule which was filming at the time. Hardy actually came out and said he loved the script and the director and was bummed he couldn't do it

But a shitty movie is a shitty movie, even if i enjoy the coat of spandex paint thats on top of it.
