Yeah I need to get an interface to start recording my ideas for a solo thing. but I'd also love to play in a metal band with people or really any band that can practice more regularly than once a week. Have you tried doing any synth music? Might be a good alternative
Yea, I'm starting to look into that. I just downloaded a bunch of different synth programs to try out. And I just got Superior Drummer so I have good drum samples. Just need to mess around with it a bit. I have two really short songs I've done in the past, and people I've showed seem to like them though. I need to learn how to make my synths heavier to do a more darkwave thing.
The theme song for my Youtube channel (Xeno hates it)
And I did a Tupac Remix a while back (you need to copy/paste since its private. Remove the space between the "//" and "soundcloud") https:// soundcloud.com/aaron-pokoj-audio/tupac-pain-synth-remix/s-grYnq
I feel the lack of being in a band depression pretty hard, especially being around the Nashville scene.
@MetalCrusades@slap@OPP think i could get some opinions on something my old band recorded a while back? It never really went farther than writing a 4 song EP and playing a handful of local shows, but it's something I'd like to start back up at some point.
MC i still think that in that Tupac remix when he goes into the "Got my mind on danger, never been a stranger to homicide" that bassline is just nasty.
I'm gonna need music for a film project I've been working on soon. Been thinking about getting some of the synth stuff you guys have been on about lately. Do you make that sort of stuff MC?
not my thing at all but it sounds find. throw in more two-hand tapping instead of metal shred and make good music videos and I could see this carrying you far. djent kids and math rock dorks have seemingly joined forces and are forming successful bands

I mean, the whole point of the project was to incorporate as many individual influences as we possibly could into a prog band, without overkilling it, The song 'Convergence' being the prime example, we even threw a djenty breakdown in it just to do it. It has a total thrash riff, some tech-y parts, and a pretty thick jazz-fusion influence. And if you listened to the second song, I'm sure you could pick up a heavy The Police/King Crimson influence as well. We never even actually planned to play this stuff live at first, which we did end up doing, but just for 6 shows. If I were to play prog now, i would want it to be more all over the place like that. Basically as far from dream theater type prog as possible.
But as far as now goes, I mostly end up jamming to either more shred-y styled hardcore like Bane, Shipwrecked, Turnstile and such, OR to more ambient/atmospheric shit. My friend Luke and I have tried starting up a project influenced by Gorguts, Intronaut and Ulcerate for 2 years now, but we've never found a good enough vocalist or bassist for it.

Eventually it will work out, or he'll become jaded and cynical like me.
