After reading about the book, it sounds a lot better. On paper, the presentation sounds the same with the narration from both of them but I feel like it's just way too difficult to execute in film as well as it comes off in the book. Might have to check that out.
Don't get me wrong, it was still a pretty god movie but the way the book was written it would just be hard to transfer that as well into film. The diary entries in the book were good because they were spread through out and had a tighter mystery, but in the movie they just kind of cram most of them together as well as leaving out a couple of really good ones.
When it aired I was kind of annoyed that after three episodes almost everybody had it rated 9.5/10 when all they did was raise more questions than they answered. The show picked up towards the end and Mike's backstory is one of my favorite episodes of anything. I read that Vince originally said that the show wouldn't follow a linear story and that they would bounce around to post breaking bad and even mid breaking bad stories. I think they really caught a stride with the story they had and will stick with it but I guess since technically the show is already taking place after breaking bad, that door is still open.
