Yea, but I'm not downloading IE illegally reproducing it. Im streaming it. The uploader and Youtube are the ones responsible, and if someone wants something taken down, they can legally have it taken down.
Whatever. I dont care. It'd be hypocritical of me if I participated on piracy.
How so? I mean, I want to make music too, and yeah it'd be cool if tons of people bought the records I'll hopefully be a part of in the future, but it's not like all professional/touring bands only buy records. I'm sure people in plenty of bands still pirate records, or in some cases advocate the pirating of their music. I know BTBAM recently told their fans to pirate all of their records they put out from their days at Victory Records.
Im not just an artist though. Im getting a degree for the business side. Someday I'll be working for a record company. How can I say I want to make money in an industry, and attribute to the wellbeing and prosperity of the business, and then steal from it?

I think the way 'Run the Jewels' was released is the future. They put out the album for free and they're making the money off t-shirts and some clever marketing like weed grinders and shit like that
Very soon, vinyl will be the only media people collect anymore
Well tons of hip-hop artists do that nowadays. Mixtapes is the way people get huge. Chance the Rapper is getting pretty big right now and is making good money, and all of his releases are available for free on datpiff.
People forget that the buying and selling of musical recordings is barely a century old. Labels have people fooled into thinking that once they can't sell shit that music will wither and die or something

yeah I think we discussed the deafheaven thing. honestly there were a lot of good releases this year, and it pains me to have to leave off a few great ones like light bearer, intronaut, the body, wooden shjips, etc. hell, even suffocation, which was at the bottom of my list for a long while was great. darkthrone was the only letdown of the year, and even at that, it wasnt horrible, just exceedingly mediocre to me. I like early/middle darkthrone. I started worrying a little at circle the wagons, but even that was a good one I guess.
