In the last track, they're just this big ol HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa )
I dl'd it for my wife and I actually like JT, so I figured I'd give it a listen at the gym. I actually listened to it twice. I know that everybody is all over him right now like he is the second coming of christ, but I just don't see it. I mean I guess it's different and sort of experimental for a pop dude, but it's pretty unlistenable. Every song is 3 or 4 minutes longer than it needs to be, seemingly for no reason, because it never goes anywhere. It doesn't really have any of the catchy hooks or anything either. It sounds kind of like extended versions of a generic BeeGees b-sides album. The only song that wasn't too bad was "Mirrors", which is kind of a similar sounding cut as "What Goes Around", but with nowhere near as catchy or cool of a groove as that tune. Overall 2/10, would not bang
1. Nails- Abandon All Life 2. Light Bearer- Silver Tongue 3. Devourment- Conceived In Sewage 4. Hatebreed- The Divinity of Purpose 5. Intronaut- Habitual Levitations 6. Bring Me The Horizon- Sempiternal
It'll come down to The Ocean and Nails battling it out for AOTY
1. The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories) - Steven Wilson 2. Earth Rocker - Clutch 3. Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words With Tones) - Intronaut 4. Meir - Kvelertak 5. Silver Tongue - Light Bearer 6. Dragged Down A Dead End Path - Call of the Void 7. Arrival at Six - Sorcery 8. Shrine of New Generation Slaves - Riverside 9. General Dome - Buke and Gase 10. The Living Infinite - Soilwork 11. Abandon All Life - Nails 12. Push The Sky Away - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 13. Target Earth - Voivod 14. California X - California X 15. Vertikal - Cult of Luna 16. Heroes of Origin - Hatriot 17. Ride The Void - Holy Grail 18. Swallowed By The Ocean's Tide- Sulphur Aeon
That's kind of the point of Portal. Constant nihilistic incomprehendable chaos. More about exploring the technical mush and sense of depravity their music creates.
But in that is what disappoints me. They have a great sound, terrifying and brutal... but doing the same thing over and over with it sort of cancels it out for me.
