Kind of like the "Everything Ozzy" thread on the Ozzfest forums (or something along those lines) I wanted to create this thread in dedication to the man who got me into heavy metal, and who also inspired me to pick up the guitar. Post anything and everything about the Ozzman for all you Ozzy fans out there. \m/
Sabbath is amazing too. I can maybe understand the "meh" part for his new stuff, but his old school stuff is just as good as Sabbath. In my opinion, it's better.
He's a legend man. You can't blame him for that. He's been around longer than most metal bands today. It's pretty inevitable that he would become "overrated" in that sense.
this is where i have a hard time with people sometimes...just because lyrics are deep doesnt mean their good.. i could sing about super sad shit all the time and introspective stuff doesnt mean i know how to write something that other people cant...ozzy is an extremely subpar lyricist (if he even writes the lyrics to his songs im not even 100 percent sure).. i mean the only reason he gets the attention he gets is because of his sabbath days
and corny lyrics? start with i dont wanna stop..theyre you go right there that took me exactly 1 second to think of

Sure, he's a legend in pop culture and the metal scene, but I wouldn't hesitate to say otherwise in terms of disagreement. I find most of the Sabbath material he is lead vocals on to be rubbish, his solo material isn't really anything to write home about and he's always had the benefit of a good guitarist during his so called "prime". He is a laughable front man and has been for quite some time. That's just my view on him. That said, I like some of his work (Sabbath/solo) but I don't find the mass appeal with Ozzy.

That's subjective though. I think every artists can have their corny lyrics, not all are deep and meaningful, Ozzy writes some of the lyrics, most of the time it's someone else. Meaningful lyrics are generally very good, because you can relate to them. Ozzy has done that before. Sure maybe not as much as other bands, but he's had a good amount. And I I Don't Wanna Stop is supposed to be a very mainstream song so of course the lyrics are mediocre. But I suggest you listen to a song of his called, Running Out of Time. Now those lyrics are brilliant. The Sabbath thing is also subjective. I mean sure because of him being in Sabbath that's what made him recognizable, but his solo stuff has made him all the more famous.

His vocals fit perfectly within Sabbath. Back then he sung very bluesy and hard rock style, he changed it up a lot when he went solo. Laughable in the sense of what? The dude is hilarious he loves to act goofy and shit.
jag i understand where your coming from but sabbath killed plain and simple...
For me, Black Sabbath and Paranoid are great albums but it's been so overplayed that it's lackluster for me now. From when I was growing up and those albums were staples for me to just the radio play they get here, I just grew tired of hearing material from those albums. Master of Reality might be my favorite Ozzy era album. And from Vol. 4 on, I just didn't get into any of those albums spare a few songs.
