Since you're in here, showed Jethrow some of my mixtape today while he was tatting me, turns out he really likes Hip Hop, and was bumping Tech N9ne, and he got all happy when I said I had his newest album on my iPod, so, we bumped that, and then he asked about my Music, so, I showed him some shit on my iPod, he was really digging it, commented on how catchy my hooks are, and that he could see it on the radio, and that he likes all the emotion I put into it, some of the tracks I showed him, only me, my engineer, and him have heard lol.

Good luck gettin on the radio, ya smell me?
I hope you make more dough than Catz's belly
You're gonna have to bring him a disc the next time you're there
But you haven't given me a story rap yet so I don't fucking care
You never like my shit or say that its clever
I'm fucking outta here man whatever
Fuck you and your mike, but that's my stand
It's coming with me and we're gonna travel across the land

Mic stand in my hand got my thumb juttin out
Just takes a minute for someone to stop and shout
"hey man, whose with ya, are you an undercover?" so I shouted back
"dude, do I look like it brother?"
He said "you got weed?" "Yes indeed" I replied
as I held my bag high
"and its just me and my stand for a microphone"
"Nice to meet ya I'm Rexcapone, let's get stoned"
Flame to the grass and foot on the gas
Rex says its time to and look for dat ass.
And just like that we were off in a mad dash,
Hit an atm so I can grab cash

And were off to see the strippers,
Rex the mad tipper, sluts on his zipper
    Whips his dick out.... kerplunk
Smack, he hits her in the face with his junk!
The girl starts screaming, the bouncers stop us from leaving
Next thing I know, I feel a hand on my neck and hear heavy breathing
Turn around and I can't believe what I'm seeing...

    Pass the god damn butter.

Just finished writing the last track, Landing, I'm happy as Hell with it, so Im'ma just share the lyrics.

    Verse 1:

At the end of it all, it's just anotha day up in the life.
And as you can see, it's only me, no friends along fo' the ride.
    But it's OK, alright.
    I'd like to, take time.
To acknowledge individuals who never turned they back, just a handful, don't even need five.
Mikey, Cuzzo, listen fo' a minute.
You the one who said go, ticket fo' admission.
And even when nobody paid any attention.
You was right there, first to enter, last to exit.
Not to mention, you like my brethren.
I can't even say I'm an only child.
Doe the difference may keep us separate.
Thousand miles away, and you'd hold me down.
And when I'm....... (Smokin' weed with you.) <-------This is a vocal sample on the beat, I stop rapping and let the sample rock for a second.)
It's like the friendship I never had.
Kick back wit a thick pack of loud, lose the doubt, just choke and laugh.
And I know dat I could do the same, wit a group of lames, really, anyone.
But when they ain't show me any love, and treat me like a scrub, it ain't any fun, uh.

    Verse 2:

Yo, I know sometimes, I hit up yo line, just simply to be talkin' wit you.
I apologize if I call too many times, like a sick bitch wit some stalkin' issues.
It's just that, dat chit chat, loosens up my fears a bit.
Assure me dat there's someone who ain't me who wanna be hearin' it.
Dat bullshit, dat riff raff, you gave me an ear dat listens.
My vision shows me dat yo sight is set to see me winnin'.
Clear as day dat ya hearin' ain't fake, my speech don't fall on deafened ears.
Not wit you, when they drown me out, you at the surface wit me, words loud and clear.
You prolly wonder why the best in my life is quiet nights down in a basement.
'Cause at least fo' a while, I'm a requirement, instead of a damn replacement.
Not second best, last second regret, lonely in a crowded room, and depressed.
It's yo time invested in me, and I'm actually there by YO own request.
See, the respect is endless, there was neva no need to be mended.
We was neva seperate, story neva ended, 'cause you neva took the bond we had, and went and wrecked it.
You the minority who made me a priority, and fo' dat, it's to you dat I'm forever indebted.
I was neva too in-depth wit the feelins in my chest, but I hope you take a sec, to reflect on this.

    Verse 3:

And last, but not least, Momma, I Love You.
Wit the strength you show, I wish I was you.
Years went by, and you did it by yoself.
Turned me to a grown ass man wit no help.
You the only one I put above myself.
And it's prolly 'cause of you that I deny help.
    'Cause the independence runs deep.
Dat mentality to stand on ya 2 feet.
If you can raise a child wit no support.
Then I can handle anything and go to war.
Both of our pasts are torn, and I'm sad to say it's due to the same man.
I hate to call 'em a man, dat he's my Dad, but I got a game plan.
Unlike his lame ass, I ain't up to chase cheap thrills.
Sittin' in my room, just boozin', chase it wit some beans and pills.
I'll neva be the shadow of a man who got no goals or any damn ideals.
'Cause I been on a mission, and I got a pretty vision of puttin' you high up in the hills.
You too good of a woman to not get somethin' that you always thought was too good to be real.
Know how they always that family be the only ones that you can trust?
Well, I learned first hand, back when I was a young buck, that I neva had such luck.
Wit a bum of a Dad, not much of a man, and he neva really gave a fuck.
I don't say it enough, not enough of dem hugs, but this fo you, Momma, all my love.

    =D>

I liked it. The writing is focused, from a real place and not talking about how awesome he is or how swagger out he is, and it kinda told a story. The song was about actually something. Only thing I would recommend is to finish with a strong verse thanking your dad. For being gone, for teaching how fucked up people can be, how you wouldn't know what a man was if he didn't show you what a man isnt etc.
    Pass the god damn butter.

Most of my shit is actually about something, I'd say only 3-4 songs on the mixtape are just flexing and rapping just to be clever and shit. But then you say it's too much about me, which, of course it's gonna be, it's about MY life. But nonetheless, not gonna ignore the compliment, thank you. Surprised you finally actually like something I wrote. And I would, but there's a whole 'nother track on the mixtape about him, this track was to end the mixtape on a positive note, and THANK the ones actually there for me, which he wasn't. One of the lines in that other track is actually right along the lines of what you said:

"I came to grip the reality.
That I was as real as real can be.
Built on real life strife, lemme thank Daddy.
For givin' the motivation to be what he CAN'T be.
It was, neva me, no, not at all.
Just to you, I'm less important than alcohol.
And I know my Momma didn't push me out to fall.
Im'ma earn the whole world, she can have it all.
Im'ma stand tall and watch you bawl.
Does it sting when I silence the rings of ya calls?
Im'ma let you down like you did me.
But, not in the sense that I won't succeed.
Please trust me, that when I hit my peak, and I climb all the way up to the top.
Im'ma make sho dat, everybody know dat, it was neva thanks to Pops.".

its funny, i remember back when everyone said the erik as a rapper thing would be a "phase" that he'll grow out of, and now he's actually got a mix tape and actually putting his skills to work. well done sir

And suddenly, Chew out of fucking nowhere. Lol.

Welcome back son! And thanks, that means a lot. And soon enough, it will be proven further that it's not just a phase. I've never been so sure about something in my life.

i do have a question tho...why is it called a mix tape instead of a cd? is it cause your not signed to a label and are doing it on your own?

im just curious cause i thought mix tapes were like ep's and only had a couple songs...where what your doing seems to be a whole cd

Mixtape doesn't really have a solid definition anymore, but generally, it's when a Rapper has a release where all the production isn't original, and it's using other Rapper's beats. Sometimes, it can be like that for the whole mixtape, or half original, half industry beats, etc.

But then, it can also just mean a release that's free, for instance, A$AP Rocky's "LiveLoveA$AP" and Rick Ross's "Rich Forever", are considered mixtapes, but both are in the 15-20 track range, and have all completely original production, but are free, and so they're considered mixtapes. In these cases, it's usually a release that's free promotion for an album, with a little taste of what the album will be like, "Rich Forever" being promotion for "God Forgives, I Don't", and Lupe Fiasco's newest mixtape "Friend Of The People", which also has all original production, being promotion for his next album, "Food And Liquor II".
