"This tour, is really the show we've been wanting to do for a long time and explore what this band is truly about. Which is some really heavy shit, and some really mellow shit. You just heard the heavy shit, so we're going to tone it down now. Here's the palette cleanser."
Guy from Audience: "FLATTENING OF EMOTIONS!!!!"
"No. That is not a palette cleanser. Thats...a whole nother monster in itself. Death metal...punk...some thrash...no. We just released an EP with a reimagining of a lot of Traced in Air. This is a reimagining of one of the heavier tracks, and it's called Integral."

Got one of those for free. The woman who does coat check at Slim's is really nice.
Those last two are shirts with the covers and tracklistings of Traced in Air and another of Focus.
Shirts: 20 for the tour 15 for a lot of them 10 for just a plain shirt w/ the Cynic logo Poster: 5 (Impressive!) All CDs including Portal: 15 (I think), except Re-Traced which was 12. A little pricey for me.
lol, you too, brah. I almost returned the Arcturus shirt n Nunslaughter vinyl to get the Giant Squid one to get signed, since they were all hangin out at that one spot, but i didnt have a sharpie or sometin. We need to meet up at Amoeba.

On my way out I talked with Aaron and he said they'll be headlining Bottom of the Hill in September or October.
Ted Nugent, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead tour. Ted Nugent/Val Halla
I was woken up at the crack of noon by a friend calling me and asking if I wanted to go see Ted Nugent. Just minutes before, he was woken up at the crack of a few minutes before noon by his father asking if he wanted to see Ted Nugent, all he needed way there. Bing, that's where I come in, I'm the way there. I got ready, drove to his house and hung out for awhile before deciding to take off. That is when I found out that I lost the key...clever Chuck. After a quick search, found the key and we were out. Trip was relatively easy and as soon as we got there, the first band was coming on, a band known as Val Halla. Now, this was one hot chick on guitar and vocals, and she could sing. During their set she said to look for them after the show and she'll give us a sweaty hug, I was more than ready to take her up on that off. They finished the set and were overall pretty cool, highly doubt I'll actually listen to them on my own time though.
After they were off, I took the time to look through the crowd. I noticed that a vast majority of the crowd were older from the 70's/80's era Uncle Ted. A lot of these people also brought their kids. So basically everywhere you looked you saw people in old Nugent tour shirts or Harley Davidson shirts along with their children in abercrombie shirts who couldn't give a damn. Some of these kids looked pissed off and bored, which really annoyed me. Let your parents have a good time, goddamn.
A minute before 8:30, Ted and the band hit the stage. He came out screaming and celebrating it seemed, and then went straight into the Star Spangled Banner. He went on to talk about how happy he was the be there, and how the feeling of being in Sylvania made him feel so much closer to home. After that he went straigt into a song everybody knew, Stormtroopin'. Halfway through the song I began to wonder why the hell I haven't seen him yet, God knows I've had enough opportunities. Next on came Wango Tango, during which they broke down into a small You Really Got Me Now jam before finishing Wango Tango. Then came some more comical political talk, and joking about his guns, two of which he brought onstage. Fast forward to a blues section with a Sam & Davis cover before playing Hey Baby. Then came Just What The Doctor Ordered. Right after was the one song that I had been waiting for. There was a little speech delivered about his dad and how he taught him to hunt, then how the next song was the most requested song in Ohio and Michigan for the past 21 years. The first cord he struck in Fred Bear was to me, just as epic as the first time I heard Hallowed Be Thy Name live. It was such a great song to hear live, and one of my favorite concert moments. After that he spoke about the opening guitar lick of his next song, and went into Cat Scratch Fever. Then of course, Stranglehold, another great live song. I had been watching this kid get annoyed and read to leave for the last hour of the show, if not longer and one of the things I was waiting for was the encore, just to see what happened. As soon as they walked offstage, I saw the kid get ready to bold out only to be denied by his parents. I couldn't help but lol. Maybe 20 seconds later they came out and played Great White Buffalo, such a good song. Nugent shot the arrow, struck the guitar and we started to file out.
This is where I kick myself in the ass. As I'm walking out, my friend points out the opening back sitting back at the merch table. I'm like "hey maybe I should have her sign something, but what." I figured I really had nothing, so I just kept walking....It didn't hit my mind that I could just as easily take a pic with her. Damn my not thinking straightedness.

I guess I'm not touching the amount of shows I went to last year, which was still lower than Jake's going to go to this year
