Animals as leaders Like tesseract I decided not to listen to any of their stuff before the show. All I knew was they are an instrumental band. All I can say is, is tosin some kind of advanced robot? Because there is no way a human can do what he was. If there is a god he wants his hands back from this dude. I couldn't take my eyes off the way he was playing that guitar. It held my attention the entire time and they had some cool visuals on the projection screens. I would definitely see them again.
Between the buried and me I am surprised by how popular they have become they had a venue almost completely full that bands like hatebreed and mudvayne sell out. It's a club but it's a pretty big club. They were perfect live I couldn't have asked for anything more. The setlist was great and I have never gone through the intensity that white walls brought to the crowd at a show before. I literally had to fight to hold my spot on the rail. I could have watched them play every song they have and stay interested. I bought their tour shirt for 20 bucks and talked to one of the guitarists. I told him the last time I saw them was ozzfest 06 and he said "that was a joke" I asked him why he thought that. He said that a band like theres isn't fit for a tour like that and it just seems the fans are there to hear endless breakdowns. I found this interesting. Either way I wouldn't expect them to ever play the big summer festivals based on this. In which they shouldn't they need long sets. I cannot wait to see them again.
I feel pretty much the exact same way about these bands. I'm not really even a listener of BtBaM but they are so damn entertaining live.
Also, not much to say about Tosin that hasn't already been said. Dude is a fucking beast.
Tesseract I listened to part of maybe one song before I saw them. Thought it would be more interesting to fully judge them live and get a feel for their sound. It started off pretty cool but got boring pretty quick. I was not a fan of the vocals and the music just became very repetitive. They played for a half hour and I was pretty happy when they got off stage.
I can understand this. Unless you really dig their sound, like I do, their stuff might seem kind of boring and repetitive. Also, they've got a new singer, who doesn't really fit in the band at all. I was lucky enough to seem them with their original singer, who is awesome. I know I'll enjoy their set, but I'm not feeling to good about what they'll sound like with the new guy.
11-13-11 -- Judas Priest -- Joe Louis Arena, Detroit Mi
When I found out that Judas Priest were going on their last tour I knew that I had to go. Then I found out that it really wouldn't be their last tour but this would be my 3rd time and maybe my favorite show from them. We decided that instead of driving back up to my dad's we would just stay down in Detroit for the night. We hung around the hotel until around 5:30 when we decided to take Detroit's people mover to Joe Louis. As we go to the venue the doors were open and we walked in looked at merch bought a Epitaph tour shirt. We find our seats which are pretty ideal and had a great view. Joe Louis isn't my favorite venue just because of the sound which I have experienced in the past. As the lights dim Thin Lizzy came on.
Thin Lizzy- I only knew 3 of their songs so I found myself kinda bored through their set. They didn't really move much except for the lead singer. The floor was kinda packed but other than that the lower and upper bowl were pretty empty. At least the singer tried to get the crowd going. I enjoyed Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back In Town. Not much else to say. 6/10
Are You Ready Waiting For An Alibi Jailbreak Massacre Emerald Killer On The Loose Rosalie/Cowgirl's Song Black Rose Cowboy Song The Boys Are Back In Town
After Thin Lizzy you could see all the bikers filling in the empty seats and you could tell BLS was coming on.
Black Label Society- Black Label Society have always pissed me off at time mostly because of Zakk Wylde. But I also like some of their songs. The crowd was actually pretty into them which surprised me. They played for awhile and then the rest of the band leave the stage and I knew that this solo was gonna be a long one. I took this opportunity to take a piss. So I do and get back to my seat and Zakk is still playing and this lasts for another 5 minutes. Come on he thinks he's a guitar god but he really isn't. Fuck him that's all I gotta say. Oh and stillborn sounded pretty good. 4/10
Crazy Horse Funeral Bell Bleed for Me Suicide Messiah Overlord Parade of the Dead Fire it Up Guitar Solo Godspeed Hell Bound Concrete Jungle Stillborn
Judas Priest- Now the reason why everyone came to see JUDAS PRIEST. I noticed that the lower bowl was about 3/4 full the upper bowl had only 4 rows open in each section but the floor was packed it was still kinda disappointing. Oh well Judas Priest came on and blew me away for a third time now. Rob sounded awesome it still amazes me how this guy can scream it just blows me away. My dad was kind of bummed that K.K. wasn't with them but I think Richie really impressed him because him and Glen sounded awesome together. They played material from almost all of their albums. Let me tell you Judas Rising sounded really heavy as did Painkiller which Rob nailed with his screaming. Scott Travis's drum solo was about 10X better then Zakk Wylde's solo. It was a great concert and any fan of Heavy Metal need's to see Judas Priest at least once. The only downside was my section was probably the lamest section in the arena. 9.5/10
Rapid Fire Metal Gods Heading Out to the Highway Judas Rising Starbreaker Victim of Changes Never Satisfied Diamonds & Rust (Joan Baez cover) Dawn Of Creation Prophecy Night Crawler Turbo Lover Beyond the Realms of Death The Sentinel Blood Red Skies The Green Manalishi (With the Two Pronged Crown) (Fleetwood Mac cover) Breaking the Law Painkiller The Hellion Electric Eye Encore: Hell Bent for Leather You've Got Another Thing Comin' Encore 2: Living After Midnight
After the show got back on Detroit's form of a subway and went back to the hotel and talked to a few guys on the same floor as us about the concert. They may have been the biggest Priest fans I have ever seen. The one dude was all decked out in leather like what Rob would wear they were hilarious. All in all it was a fun night.
