Was it wrong to copy tapes before the Internet? Was it wrong to copy a cd for someone? How is dl different just on a larger scale? It's a reflection of our society, instead of making a copy for your friend you make a copy for 10,000 friends. Lars even talks about how he used to copy tapes so the band could listen to them, now he's soooo against it, what a jackass
If the band would not like you to commit copy right infringement of their intellectual property, then yes it is wrong. Committing copy right infringement is not the same as theft though, as the band itself has lost nothing quantifiable.
I am of the opinion that piracy is effectively free advertising, and thus should be supportive of the few who do it, as it will make them more popular and increase the amount of money they can make.
I'm still debating of I want to preorder it or a meet-and-great and get the physical copy a day before release or just download it when I get to the radio station on Tuesday.
i would never have gone to as many shows as i've been and bought merch from bands without illegal downloading. almost every band i downloaded that i liked that toured near me i went to see
