Don't call it a comeback! Oceano are excited to reveal that they will not be breaking up after this year's New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and will, in fact, record new music. The band is currently hard-at-work writing their next studio album for Earache Records, which is expected in early 2013. Frontman Adam Warren issued the following statement:
"Kinda funny how right around Easter we decide to pull a Jesus and flip the script on what everyone was thinking right?
With rumors running around, and haters trolling in their own discontent, it IS true Oceano will be staying alive and kicking for the rest of 2012 and far beyond.
After essentially removing ourselves entirelyfrom touring and the music aspect of our lives for almost 8 months, we all got to spend time with our families and friends and rediscover "normal" life.
We rarely experienced this being a part of Oceano. So it felt amazing. But also, within all the valuable time home the itch slowly started to come back.
Our "final shows" at the Jamboree and New England Hardcore/Metal Fest began to come closer, yet it just didn't feel like anywhere near the proper way to end this band.
We all respect and appreciate how far Oceano has come amidst all the bullshit and sidetracking. Prevailing from the entire struggle made it all worth it. We also love and cherish the things we sacrifice to be on the road and perform for all those people who have supported us through it all. So why can't we have both?
We each took the time to discover the best approach and game plan to have ample time for the things we hold most important at home (family, jobs, etc.) while still being able to do what we love and making a living off of it.
We're beyond stoked to get back to work and infect every listener with our brand of Windy City Death, but this WON'T be the Oceano you knew from last year, or even before that. The stakes are higher, shits gonna get heavier, and we're coming to entice destruction and bloodshed in every city. See you soon."
Longtime band manager Derek Brewer had this to say:
"I wasn't going to let something this good go…I am very proud of this band and their accomplishments all the way from the time I first starting working with them when they were playing in front of 30 kids every night at all ages community center shows to selling out well-respected clubs across the US on their last headline tour.
So when the band reached out to me to figure out a way to get things back in action, I was more than eager to do what I could to make it happen."
Oceano will be hitting the road heavily in support of this announcement. The band already has three dates planned, including the Jamboree in Toledo, OH, the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and a hometown throwdown show in Chicago.
Plans are underway for them to participate in a large-scale summer tour in the US (TBA) and their return to Europe for a full tour this fall.
April 15 - the Jamboree at Headliners - Toledo, OH
April 20 - The New England Metal and HardcoreFest - Palladium - Worcester, MA
May 5 - The Bottom Lounge - Chicago, IL
TL;DR: Oceano is not breaking up after all. Apparently is isn't an April fool's joke. Even though it may be.
In an exclusive interview with "Showbiz Tonight", members of the band KISS slam the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. KISS, who performed at the NCAA Big Dance Concert Series this weekend, has been eligible to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame since 1999, but has never received the honor. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley critique the organization, saying that the voting process is an insult to artists.
Tune into "Showbiz Tonight" at 11 p.m. ET/PT to hear the complete interview with KISS. A preview clip is available below.
For the 13th year in a row, KISS has been passed up for inclusion into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Had they been inducted in 1999, the year they were first eligible, they would have entered with Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, DustySpringfield, and Curtis Mayfield, among others. That year, instead of KISS joining those legends in the Hall, the late Del Shannon was inducted — an artist, whose influence and fan-base simply can't be compared to the New York rockers. Over the years, KISS has watched such '70s peers as AEROSMITH, the RAMONES, AC/DC, ZZ TOP, the SEX PISTOLS, the STOOGES, and Alice Cooper enter before them.
Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley spoke about once again being shut out of the Rock Hall, with Simmons telling Rolling Stone: "It's become a joke. We've been thinking about it and the answer is simply, 'We'll just buy it and fire everybody.' In all seriousness for the fans, for something to be called Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is such an insult to MADONNA, BLONDIE. . . Who the fuck knows what other disco act is in there? It's an insult to them because they don't get to be in the 'Dance Hall Of Fame', because that's what they do. They're legitimate dance, disco artists. They don't belong in rock and roll."
Paul Stanley went on to add: "The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has reached a point where they're really scrounging and scratching to find someone left that they consider viable. With all due respect, when you get to Patti Smith, you're about two steps away from Pete Seeger."
Gene Simmons told The Pulse Of Radio that awards hold little allure for him, since it's the fans that ultimately decide who stays around and who doesn't: "Our awards are under the 'K' section in record stores. Every time somebody goes out and plunks down their hard-earned money — either for a KISS ticket or for an album — that's the award, and reward."
Paul Stanley told The Pulse Of Radio that he looks at the big picture when considering KISS' career. "When you think of Muhammad Ali, you think of him as the champ," he said. "You don't think of the times he lost — and he did. I'd rather think of us in those terms. Nobody stays on top all the time, but who's been champ longest?"
KISS has just wrapped production on their 20th album, "Monster". No release date has been announced.
Behemoth show cancelled in Ohio due to conflicting religious beliefs with the venue owners!
Commented Nergal : “Wow, big motherfuckin’ WOW! We are facing a legendary moment: Amerika, the land of the free, is banning Behemoth coz of religious beliefs. The madness starts in Ohio, but of korz we r playing anyway. Nothing can stop us now. God, please save me from this freedom…”
Agoura Hills, CA - April 3rd, 2012 - The highly anticipated inaugural Decibel Magazine tour kicks off in a mere eight days in Columbus, OH. It wasn't too late, however, for the venue owners to prohibit the bands from appearing at The Brewmaster's Gate. Behemoth, Watain, The Devil's Blood, and In Solitude are being forbidden from playing at the venue because of religious conflicts with the venue owners. These bands are no strangers to this type of treatment, and a new venue has already been confirmed. The Columbus, OH show will now be at Al Rosa.
Sheesh, it sure is a bad time to be Dave Mustaine. After declaring during a recent interview that “ I know [President Barack Obama] was born somewhere else than America,” the Megadeth main man first got an earful from GWAR’s Oderus Urungus; now President Obama himself has spoken out against Mustaine, making some pretty damning accusations of his own.
It’s no secret that Obama is a metalhead; a couple of years ago, he weighed in on the state of The Dillinger Escape Plan, too. Still, the Prez so rarely talks about metal in public, it’s always still kind of surprising when he does.
When asked during a press conference earlier today if he’d heard about Mustaine’s comments, here’s what President Obama had to say:
“Dave Mustaine has a lot of questions about me? Well I have a lot of questions about him! How do we know he really had anything to do with those songs on [Metallica's] Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning? I didn’t see him write them, did you? I’m not questioning it, I just… I know he didn’t write any of those riffs. How come he was invisible until he became whatever he was in Megadeth?”
