This year, Werchter Boutique, which will take place at the Festivalpark in Werchter (Belgium) on Whit Monday May 28, is all about heavy rock and metal. Metallica will play their magnum opus ‘Metallica’ (1991) in full. ‘The Black Album’ celebrated its 20th birthday in 2011. The set will be complemented with a parade of classics from the band's immense back catalogue. The Metallica at Werchter Boutique show will be their only performance in the Benelux this summer.

Metallica are not coming to Werchter alone. They are keen to invite other bands to take part in the festivities. The names of these bands can now be revealed. In consultation with Metallica, the following bands have been added to the line-up: SOUNDGARDEN, MASTODON, CHANNEL ZERO, GOJIRA and GHOST.

Now that the complete line-up for Werchter Boutique presents Metallica is known, also the time schedule is ready. Check it out here!

Note that Soundgarden were supposed to play the Rockhal in Esh/Alzette (Luxemburg) on May 28. Metallica's invitation for them to come and play right before them in Werchter, made them alter their plans and cancel the show in Luxemburg. Ticketholders for the Rockhal show can ask for a refund of their ticket or -other option- can to come to Werchter as tickets for the Rockhal show of Soundgarden will give access to Werchter Boutique at no additional cost. Last week, Dave Mustaine said he would vote for Rick Santorum and in turn got a ton of publicity for it, only to retract his statement a bit saying he never officially used the word "endorse." Needless to say, it made it pretty obvious that Mustaine agrees with Santorum's ultra-conservative beliefs. To further cement his ultra-conservatism, Mustaine was recently asked what his viewpoint on gay marriage is and his answer was hilarious:

"Well, since I'm not gay, the answer to that would be no." Dave was then questioned if he would support legislation to make marriage between a man and another man legal. He replied, "I'm Christian. The answer to that would be no."

So, only gay people can support gay marriage? That's like saying "I'm not a woman, so I don't support the woman's right to choose." Wait, that's probably a bad example, because he would say something like that. That's like saying "I don't support minimum wage laws because I live in a mansion" or "I don't support pot legalisation because I'm just a massive cokehead." The fact that he says that because he is Christian, he has to oppose gay marriage yet goes around telling everybody to not be a sheep and listen to what the government tells them is so massively ironic that my head hurts.

Ultimately, somebody in Dave's camp needs to just STOP BOOKING HIM FOR INTERVIEWS. All he does is put his foot in his mouth and turn off another portion of his fan base. I am not saying I want him censored, on the contrary, the more ridiculous things he says, the more I can write about and get hits. The issue is this man is a hero to many people with many different viewpoints on life and by being so free with his opinion, he is alienating people who look up to him.

One person who is not alienating his fanbase, is Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato, who, when asked by a fan about his views on homophobia in metal, wrote a fantastic response:

"I really think masculinity insecurity issues are the problem, and listening to testosterone-charged music and putting on a tough-guy front enables the people with those issues to live in a sort of constructed 'man suit,'" replied Puciato.

"It's frustrating that the United States leans so much on Christianity politically, a religion that teaches at its fundamental core complete intolerance toward homosexuality.

"It's not a coincidence that homophobia is most rampant in those three genres [metal, hip-hop and country], and that those genres are primarily embraced by low-income groups, groups that have low exposure to quality education, and almost no exposure to travel or different cultures. Punk and hardcore ethics have always been more refreshing and progressive, however."

MOTÖRHEAD, the hardest-working, hardest-touring band in the world, loves when fans buy its records, but not this time. A new box set, called "Complete Early Years Box Set", has just come out by the company who has the rights to the band's early recordings, and some retail outlets are allegedly charging over $600 for it!

"Unfortunately, greed once again rears its yapping head," says iconic frontman Lemmy Kilmister. "I would advise against it even for the most rabid completists!"

MOTÖRHEAD has no control over what’s done with these early songs, and doesn't want fans to think that the band is involved in putting out such a costly box set.

MOTÖRHEAD do have a great new record and DVD out, (CD is "The Wörld Is Yours" and DVD is "The Wörld Is Ours-Vol 1 - Everywhere Further Than Everyplace Else"), and the band hopes fans will choose these new releases over this outrageously expensive box set.

With great deliberation and difficulty, we have decided to part ways with our keyboardist James Baney. James will always be family to TDWP, being one of the most well-intentioned people we know. Our prayers to James in beginning a new chapter with his wife back home, and our endless gratitude to TDWP fans for understanding. We'll see you at a show soon.

Split Cranium is the new old-school crust punk/hardcore quartet helmed by ex-Isis mainman Aaron Turner, now of Mamiffer, and Jussi Lehtisalo of longtime Finnish shapeshifters Circle and Pharaoh Overlord. Their self-titled debut LP, out March 20 via Hydra Head, is an invigorating pile of hyperspeed riffs, d-beats, raw full-throttled vocals, and the occasionally epic noise detail. They go for a straightforward, satisfying pummel on "Tiny Me".
