From my experience at our venue, the only line is for the entire venue.. Once you go through it's up to you what you do...run to the stage for a rail spot or look around.

I mean they had the line outside the venue for everyone, but once you got inside they wristbanded people with pit tickets and you could wait in a line to get in.
Ah I see what you're saying... I think our place doesn't even let people actually enter the amphitheater area until shortly before it starts getting used...but I could be wrong.
You said you were looking forward to Anthrax right? Well you might be at a disadvantage there. There will probably be people who will already be in the pit for the mainstage long before Anthrax is done.

Yeah, I know. So I'm probably gonna sacrifice seeing Anthrax. I'll just watch them on YouTube a few days after the show.

one time i snuck into the pit at a mayhem and basically walked right up to the stage lol
