1. Name one sport you'd like to get into (via club/league/etc)? I fence right now, but I miss playing soccer and I want to get back to playing it at some point.

It varies. I've gotten hit pretty hard in the chest and arm multiple times, but it usually just stings for a minute or so and then goes away. I got drilled in the knee once though and that fucking crippled me.

I worked with this guy once who use to fence with his son, and he said they really got very violent and tried to inflict as much pain as they could in their jabs. He lifted his shirt and showed me once and he had then grapefruit size black bruises. I always wondered if he bruised easy, or if they really were getting each other that hard.

The first time I tried surfing, I was surprised by how powerful the ocean is. I had a wave crash on my head and push me like 10 feet under the water. There was a split second where I thought I was going to die.
i've never really surfed, i've done boogie boarding and body surfing but its not the same, its just something i've always wanted to do, getting caught up in the undertow is freaky to and i know what you mean about being downed by a wave and getting pushed down and caught in the spin.... u don't know which way is up.

Unfortunately some people are like that, but those people are generally beginners, and it may be different for me because I fence on a college team. If you fence with people that actually try to do well rather than just hit your opponent as hard as possible you generally won't get hurt. No matter what your skill level or who you're fencing though, there will always be the chance of getting hurt, whether on purpose or just an accidental hit.
