Possibly getting Death Metal Drum lessons starting in a few weeks. Focusing on blasting, fills, double bass, etc. Everything I've been struggling with for a year now. So stoked.

Once you're done with that, do some Jazz drumming B-)
I've actually really been wanting to learn Jazz Drumming. As well as Latin style Drumming. 2 of the hardest genres to play.
That'd be awesome. I need to take some classes on learning how to develop walking basslines.

I don't want to live like everyone else who has a job simply to supply myself with a house and food, I want more than that.
The ideal way to live life is to do what you love, regardless of how lucrative it is. Most people realize this, so your "everyone else" is a little tough to handle.
I'm finally a journalist.
You get a column in the school newspaper?
I've had that shit forever, I've gotten a column in a real news publication this time.
Nice dude, what'd you write about and where was it published?
no, i mean if you got rid of it that money was basically put towards and investment in your future and if you chose a different path, youd never be able to get that some amount back

A quality education can be used in any field, if the user wants to apply it. Something tells me Erik holds quite a bit of contempt for his education...

I get what you mean, but my point is, Music is the only thing I love and have a passion for, there's so many people that don't get to do what they truly want to and have a job for the sole purpose of having a job. Anything else other than touring has absolutely no appeal to me. I don't care what sacrifices I have to make, I need this. I swore it to myself when I saw ADTR, I need to be up on that stage, there's nowhere else I'd rather be.

Ahh, true. I thought you meant if I don't end up touring.

Music is the only thing that you love and have a passion for so far. We're both young. We both need to understand that the landscape of our entire lives has not been revealed to us. With your propensity to shift in taste or interest, it's unwise to think that music will forever be the only thing that you love and have a passion for.

It's all I've ever been interested in my entire life, even from a very young age. I'm almost certain that won't change.

Let's assume that hyperbole is true. Is it wise to continue as if nothing else will possibly peak your interest?
I have tried my hand at a lot of things.
Music, art, acting, writing, journalism, soccer, hockey, football, track and field, baseball, philosophy and competitive eating amongst them.
However, I have also not tried my hand at a lot of things.
Those include Irish folk dancing, translation, astronomy, teaching, drill instructing, aerospace engineering, construction, demolition, farming, and a myriad of other things. It is not wise for me to assume that I would be unhappy doing any of those things.
Have you ever read Yes Man by Danny Wallace? It was made into an absolutely terrible movie, but it outlines an extreme form of what I'm trying to say here.

I get what you're saying, and I'm not trying to write off your opinion here, however, out of everything you mentioned, the only thing I'm interested in, is Music. At least, as far as a career, since I've considered getting back into Football as a hobby and to get back into shape, but I have absolutely no wish to make it to the NFL, or even college Football.
I'm not saying nothing else could peak my interest, I'm just saying I highly doubt it. I'm so focused on Music, and Music only, that nothing else even matters to me.
Not only that, but I have to have passion and put heart into it if I truly want it. The only thing I have said passion for, is Music, nothing else. I need passion for motivation. If I had no passion for Music, it'd just be something I occasionally did and I'd have no motivation to get better. But I think that's the exact reason I lost it a few weeks ago. I'm so devoted to getting better and making this my career, and I kept fucking up and felt like a failure.
