I have a similar situation. Our PTO doesn’t roll over, so in addition to having the holiday off I’m taking the next 2 Tuesdays off as well and I get a full weeks pay for the balance
Looks like the barber apprenticeship is a green light. Got my cut today and he actually was so serious about it that he immediately had me sit in for the cut after me and take some notes. His current apprentice is due to finish in January and then we’re gonna go from there.
Great job Erik. You guys hammer out any details yet on how it’s gonna work? Costs, pay, supplies, chair rent, length of apprenticeship, follow up employment, non-compete clauses etc? Getting all the details clearly laid out up front can definitely save some headaches down the road. Majority of the apprenticeships my tattoo guy did ended poorly. Different industry for sure, and he was a hard dude to work for besides, but still be sure to get as many details as you can going in.
We didn’t get quite that far yet but he did say he wants me to get a bunch of mannequin heads ahead of time and start practice cutting on those and suggested specific clippers to grab ($200+ but professional grade and would serve me for actual cuts at the shop so worth the investment.) because the way he approaches teaching is he would want me on live human clients sooner than later. So obviously I would make some money from those right away even tho they would obviously be discounted cuts at student rates basically. He also wants to do an entire separate rundown of the proper way to do my taxes and claim all my writeoffs, cause I would now be a 1099 independent contractor and not a W4 employee, so it’s obviously a bit different. He was telling me that even tho they technically pay more in taxes due to the tacked on 15% self employment tax, it actually ends up being less because of all the writeoffs. And he gets even more because he owns the shop so he has a registered LLC.
The only bad spot at ford field is like way up in the corners.
I sat there for a free ticket one time, but yeah the views at for field are pretty damn good.
I typically don't like the endzones. It just makes it harder to see where the ball is at on the field relative to a first down. But ill sit anywhere for this game.
