I got out of being late today because I was hammered last night and my brother put it on his snap and my manager saw it ) he was just salty because he didn't get invited. Completely forgot about it until he pulled up my brothers snap of me going "I don't drink and drive, I drink then drive there's a difference....where am I?" ) didn't even drive that night
Had to opportunity to spend some time in the Superdome over the past few days watching the crew set up for the GNR show tonight. Pretty fucking incredible process.
Lollapalooza was officially the best 4 days of my life. What a Goddamn weekend. Post festival depression is settin in HARD. I'll never forget this weekend. I'm glad that I keep it to one festival a year other than standard shows in between. Makes it that much more special when it rolls around. Lolla is definitely gonna be an annual thing. This was my second year in a row and both were the best concert experiences I've ever had. Worth every last mf penny. Mfs say it's overpriced but you can't put a price on once in a lifetime memories.
@EpisodeElevator you should make the trip to a camping festival. There's so many to choose from and it's only growing every year so they'll probably lead to their own collapse. People are already calling it a festival bubble. Anyway, anybody that has gone to Coachella, Firefly, Sasquatch or Bonnaroo always comes back and says lolla actually kind of really sucks. The vibe is just horrible. Nobody is friendly and most of the time people are just talking loudly during sets. The bands are great but the people suck. I know you and probably I fit into this demographic but they also say it's way too full of kids. This dude said he's 28 and felt like the oldest person there.
GO TO ONE. It's not just the music, it's the entire atmosphere. Everybody just walks up to everybody and starts talking and turns into friends. You can hug a hundred total strangers and just feel all around happy. I'm sure lollapalooza is still an amazing time but basically you go with your group and that's about it. Another random complaint I heard was that the sound was always too quiet at almost every set. Dude said he was in a pretty good spot for radioead and could still hear everybody around him talking as much as he could hear the music.
I saw my friend Cara over the weekend. She did set design for Stranger Things and a bunch of other stuff. She's about to start work on the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid sequel. I showed her some of my son's drawings and she's gonna try to use them for some of the wall art. My son is gonna be so stoked
