You try so fucking hard. Please kill yourself. She's been harsh and straight up told me "That sounded like shit." Before. And I'm glad she's like that, some kids can't take that. And it lets me know she's being honest when she says I sound good.
Wake, music coaches/teachers/instructors don't do shit like that. They're teaching because they're passionate about music and want to help other people who are also passionate about music. They're not just doing it for a buck. My bass instructor last year would literally jump around and shout in excitement when he saw that I was greatly improving in my playing and improvisation. It was obvious he was passionate about teaching/coaching me. They actually love what they're doing, so they're not gonna bullshit you. And it's not like I was even paying him, he was being paid by the school.

Anyone who is coaching/teaching/etc where they are being voluntarily paid for a service absolutely does that if they want to keep being paid. People like having their ego stroked and its in their best interest to dish out praise and complements because it will fill their bank account. Have you ever watch American Idol at the beginning where the judges make fun of shitty singers and then the contestants are like "I've been in vocal lessons for 10 years, so I know you are dead wrong". That happens multiple times per season, and that's just the cut making TV. I've even had government paid school teachers tell me they praise peoples kids to the parents because if the parents think that the teacher thinks their kid is special, then the parents are much easier to work with when they need something.
I get Erik took my comment as a put down, however it wasnt meant to be. Is Erik good at singing? idk, never heard him sing. His rapping voice wasnt bad, so it wouldnt surprise me. Could his teacher had been sincere with her complement? absolutely. So what was my point? Be wary of teachers/coaches/etc when they dish out compliments. That's all. Why should you be cautious of compliments? because they arent necessarily a good gauge to how good you are, and the last thing you want is to think you are better than you are.
If I was a singer, you know what sort of complement would inflate my ego the most? My record going triple platinum. When people start speaking with dollars, then you know you've arrived.

well that's good then. I wasnt saying her complement wasnt sincere..
I can assure you that's not what's happening with instructors at a college level, considering these students are looking to make music their career.
absolutely agree on a college level. I've never come across any professors that like stroking peoples ego. Especially those with tenure... Professors with tenure are all brutally honest most of the time.
I downloaded it and plan to watch it. After watching the honest trailer I posted above, my expectations are pretty low.
Well I enjoyed it. A lot of the action was pretty fast....it may have been better on the big screen And it could have been more gory too but still good value after reading the book

There's something very special about New Orleans. Our passion for sporting events is ingrained into the city's one of a kind culture, history, and ambiance, and only trumped by the professionalism of our tourism and hospitality industry. It is an honor that New Orleans receives the award as North America's Leading Sports Tourism Destination."
"New Orleans has a well-earned reputation as a leader in hosting world-class sporting events," said Allstate Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan, "and the Sugar Bowl Committee is proud to have played an important role in developing that reputation. This city has a unique package of hotel, hospitality, entertainment and cuisine options that create a truly memorable experience for sports fans. Over the years, Sugar Bowl games, National Championship games and Final Fours have proved as much."
Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson added that "New Orleans is a world class city. Our sports facilities are second to none. Our hotels and hospitality are the gold standard. As an owner for an NFL and NBA franchise; I hear firsthand from other owners about their desire to come and enjoy our city and its hospitality. They cite the proximity of our hotels, restaurants and entertainment to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Arena. It is the perfect city to host any sporting event and I am proud to have the opportunity to share it with everyone."
