the reaction to bielema's signing here in the south has varied from "meh" to "who?"
good luck recruiting brah
to be fair.......its the south
recruiting [-X
He could just point to J.J. Watt, Russell Wilson, and Montee Ball. Seems he's done ok so far.
that's not the point. tbh, i didn't even know his name until yesterday. arkansas is coming off a year where they got destroyed by motherfuckers everywhere after coming into the season ranked #9. now, it is fuckin' tough to get your program off the ground in the sec. ask tennessee. auburn played it safe by hiring someone that was acquainted with the program and area. bielema is moving into hostile ground where he's going to be battling several behemoth programs for recruits. it's a lot easier to recruit up north. it's gonna be a whole different game down here and the kids in sec territory (say what you want) don't give a fuck about northern programs. then he gets to play alabama and lsu on a yearly basis.
and for the record: russell wilson was a transfer with a special situation. he'd already graduated from n.c. state before heading up there and bielema was making no friends up there by bringing in the one-and-dones like wilson. he had seniors not getting to play so a hired gun could get him a possible trophy. that doesn't go over well with recruits or boosters. and j.j. watt fell into his lap. that whole story is well documented.

a) i don't really care too much about midwest college football and he wasn't the biggest name up there to begin with
b) don't care about russell wilson, but what i said was something i read a couple of weeks ago regarding how bielema was having issues with some of the underclassmen qb's trying to transfer out because he was bringing in others to start ahead of them. these kids have 4-5 years to make their names and if they see a coach consistantly bringing in transfers to play over his own recruits, they're just not gonna play for him. bottom line
c) i just figured everyone had heard the story about j.j. playing at some michigan school as a tight end before sitting out a year before then deciding to walk-on at wisconsin as a defensive end. i've heard the same thing like 10 times on nfl broadcasts this year
EDIT: i think i see your point now. that i didn't know his name before. well, i didn't. i know the program. i know barry alvarez. i know lee evans played there. didn't know bielema's name.
my point? if i don't know his name, i doubt a bunch of 17 year old kids with dreadlocks that complain about hatas know who he is. and that's his target audience as of now
How is that? more people packed the big house over our shittiest 3 years ever then were ever at any SEC games....every single weekend more people are in the big house then any other school in the country....the fan base cares about college football as much as any fan base in college football
