what does money have to do with civility?.... of all the things I've heard America being called; "Civil" is not one of them.
btw.... that happened in Australia.
and what exactly is civil?.... sitting down over a cup of tea and discussing WHY it is that the kid is putting his hands on the fat kid?
Do you remember that story where 4 or 5 girls beat the living crap out of another girl, and taped it?.... she never let it bother her prior to that, and look at what the result was.
wind back a month or two and her DEFENDING herself from a bully with a scuffle.... and guaranteed that video tape would have never have happened.
Because we actually have the resources and much more structure than those people. The majority of those people struggle with basic necessities, unlike most of us. As I said earlier, I think worrying about bullying and getting involved in fights is extremely petty, especially when most of the people involved do not face the same problems people in third world countries do. They could do more with their time than stupid bullshit.
And yes, Australia is a first world country, like America. I never said that none of these first world countries had any problems with violence though. We have no need to have these kinds of things happen though.
Yeah, I saw that video. Imo, I think she was dumb to go to that girl's house to fight another. She could of avoided that situation completely. I don't think she deserved it though.
When I started dressing in all black (lolz) in middle school, this one girl gave me some shit but it wasn't anything worth being bothered about. Aside from a few "hey ur ugly lol" or "u stupid goth go worship satan" no one gave me shit. :bz
That's cuz they knew youd get all Razor up in dat bitch.
I am a strong believer in karma and not just for negative reasons.
So you do believe there is this supernatural force that actually knows what people have done in their past and makes sure that they get punished later in life?
having people say shit and start rumors and what not about in school is one thing...... which i'd agree with bottle that the best option is to just not give a shit and push them aside.
BUT..... this story with the kid was much more then that. It was physical assault, and thats just something i could never believe anyone would EVER just let it slide forever. They may for a while, but there comes a breaking point..... FOR EVERYONE! and they'll defend themselves by any means necessary (violence included)
lets just consider it fortunate that this happened in the hallway in a matter of seconds.... and it never escalated into something much bigger; ala columbine.

you're not getting what I'm saying at all. I never said I wasn't bothered. I meant I was apathetic in my "reaction" and I never acknowledged them. there is no sort of subtle body language I was making. when there was downtime in my classes I was either sleeping or reading or if it was the rare occasion someone I knew was in there I would be talking with them and I was always cheerful with my friends. my outside emotions were apathetic to being picked on. I don't know any other way to communicate that with you, but you seem to not to want to accept that.
I never cried over their bullshit even though it bothered me. my feelings toward it were "what the fuck is their issue/not going to bother/they don't know me" but I didn't go and scream that out on the rooftops or give them any sort of attention whatsoever.
I am not wishing poorly at all on them either. I'm saying karma will bite them in the ass. I am a strong believer in karma and not just for negative reasons.
I just can't believe that you showed no body language, even if it was minimal, and that you weren't bothered by it. If you truly weren't bothered by it, you wouldn't be so angry about it, right?
And imo, there's no such thing as karma. Good people can die young, and bad people can live forever. It's just life.

I can see that. I don't think bullies are the cause of things escalating into things like Columbine though.

Just because a bully has his or her own problems doesn't mean he or she needs to pick on other people to make their life better. The bully should deal with their own shit so others don't become depressed and fucked over because of them
At a younger age kids may not know why they're bullying people but when they get older they need to deal with their own problems and not bring other people into it
shit made me mad. people also made fun of me for walking fast lol but I was neva tardy for a class so they can suck it. of course when senioritis came along that was a whole different story haha
LOL
We used to have this kid at our school who literally ran everywhere.

Paul?!
I remember when he got tripped hardcore by some chick. He literally caught air and his shit went flying everywhere, I went over to help him up but I won't lie it was hard to hold in a laugh after that one.

Oh I remember when he did that. But this was a different kid.
At least Paul always brushed things off like a boss. :-))

And I love it when people disagree with me. I like having actual discussions with someone who can think for themselves.
that's cool.... i do think they can be A cause.
Or when you would accidentally run into someone, and be like "Oh, sorry!" and then they'd get in your face or whatever. <_>
