If Oklahoma lost Texas then they might lose a great deal of recruiting. If A&M leaves then they still have the state of Texas to recruit and use the SEC to attract more. And "A&M can't compete with Texas in their own state"? Bullshit. A&M has had great success in athletics the past couple of years. The men and women's track teams dominate and are 3-peat national champions. The football team has resurrected itself from what Franchione left it in. Basketball has had great success as well as the soccer team (women's- they do not have men's). Oh and I forgot the golf team won the title a year or two ago.
Who cares about other sports? It's a football-driven move, don't kid yourself, and A&M can't compete. And it's only going to get harder for them. Just wait until the SEC adds Florida State into the mix. They will be fighting to recruit against every other school in that conference, and I already listed all the powerhouses that are there. Texas is the more attractive football school by far before you even consider the TV stuff they have.

I believe they will be about on Arkansas' level for football. I don't expect them to be the Alabama, Auburn, or Florida of the conference either. I'm being optimistic about the move because I was for it last year when everyone began to change.
It's not worth screwing over the rest of the country, because it's a lateral move at best. Now the SEC will have to go to 14, or maybe even 16, and then the Big 12 either gets another member or dissolves, and the Big Ten probably gets back into the mix to add more teams, along with the Pac-12. It's a domino effect that is completely unnecessary imo.
Maybe, but to not even have peace for a full season is sad, especially when the domino is knocked over with a stupid move by a program that just couldn't put their ego aside for the better of everyone else.
im very interested to see if the competition will get any better in the Big 10 now that nebraska is there......................i doubt it though LOL.
Except the Big Ten was the second best conference in America last year....without Nebraska. Now you add a team who played in the Big 12 conference championship game last year.....how could the Big Ten not be even stronger this year?
at first i was like but then i remembered your a michigan fan :-)) the big 10 has been the 3rd best conference for quite a long time now. OSU is pretty much the only team that has done well and im a penn state fan. aside from OSU and maybe PSU and Iowa the conference has been pretty bad the last 4 years.

Which conference other than the SEC is better than the Big Ten? The Big 12? Nope. The Pac-10? Nope. The ACC? Hell no. The Big Ten played poorly against the SEC in the bowl games last year but fared well against everyone else. Wisconsin, Michigan State, and OSU were strong last year, Penn State always does well, Michigan is on the way up, Iowa finds a way to get it done, and Northwestern is a dark horse. Add Nebraska and the Big Ten is the second best conference in the nation even after Ohio State gets knocked down a peg.
The Southeastern Conference is not extending an invitation to Texas A&M to become its 13th member, but isn't ruling out adding the Aggies in the future.
University of Florida president Dr. Bernie Machen said the conference's presidents and chancellors met on Sunday and "reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment."
"We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league," Machen said. "We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M."

Nah, it's an ego trip for A&M. Like they have a better chance of winning in the SEC than the Big 12. It doesn't make nearly as much sense as the moves other teams like Nebraska made. It's dumb and they're screwing over the entire landscape of college football in the process.
I think Texas should be independent, but A&M is going about this the wrong way.
MIAMI -- NCAA investigators visited the University of Miami campus Monday looking into claims that more than a dozen former or current football players received gifts and services from convicted Ponzi schemer Nevin Shapiro, his attorney said.
Shapiro has told the NCAA he provided players with the use of a yacht and other favors, said his attorney, Maria Elena Perez. Shapiro and Perez have been talking with the NCAA about the matter for a couple of months and provided documentation, she said.
University officials didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. School officials and current players were expected to be interviewed.

im going by the last four years. the big 12 wasn't all that great last year but before that they were awesome. the big 12 is pretty much screwed now though. northwestern has sucked for so long. and michigan hasn't been good for like 5 years. i think the last time they had a good year was the year before they lost to appalachian (sp?) state LOL.

Northwestern's always a pain in the ass to play. And Michigan had a winning record last year. They're not a good team? Please. Big Ten > Big 12

God damn A&M is fucking stupid.
Ugh that sounds like something my family from Louisiana would say. I guess it's the law you have to be a Bayou Bengal

Everybody's going full retard over Texas.
